and the 6 movies.

I was meaning to start from TNG, but after seeing the first 5 movies with the original characters and liking them I gave the series also a go on Netflix. I'm glad I didn't skip TOS, despite being 50 years old I enjoyed it very much. There's some adjustment needed when you watch something that old (especially when it's scifi), but it stops being a problem a few episodes in. It's the characters that make the show, and there's so much synergy between them. Love how much memorable quotes and memes it started. I saved movie 6 for the last because I knew it was the last of TOS, and damn it was a proper sendoff.

25 years later.

and now I feel sad and empty, I always have this feeling when I finish a good movie, show or game. :/

Is there anything that can give me the same feels (aside from TNG)? Should I watch the other Star Trek shows, heard DS9 is good but starts slow, should I watch it before TNG, which is considered the best? Other scifi shows on backlog are Farscape and Babylon 5.

TNG is only great from the 3rd season on. Its first season is complete trash. Just watch the pilot, Q-Who, and Measure of a Man from Seasons 1 and 2. But by season 3 you're in for a treat.

None of the other series are as consistently good as TOS.

Deep Space 9 actually has the most and the largest space battles out of any of the series. The difference between it and the other series is that it takes place on a space station instead of on a ship. There are 2 wars which take place over series 4-7, with hundreds of ships battling at a time. Its first season isn't as good as later seasons, but it is the only series after TOS to have a decent first season at all, and it ecen has some great episodes in its first season. It is the most consistently good series after TOS, It has the most action of any Star Trek series and is much darker than any of the other series. And is has 'The Sisko.'

Voyager and Enterprise have occasional moments, but they are overall crap. BS morals that change by the episode and scripts that literally have parts that are blank and just say 'technobable.  Enterprise eventually improved, but Voyager only is good when it focuses on the Doctor or on 7 of 9, and even then they ruin a good thing by overdoing it.

The only Next Gen movie worth seeing is First Contact. Generations is not a good sendoff for Kirk and crew, especially after how good Undiscovered Country was.

The recent 3 Star Trek movies are a decent reboot for the TOS crew with new actors.  Mindless action movies but good fun.

That episode where they kill the Vulcans and it shows half of it from the Vulcan perspective and he goes down with the ship? Heartbreaking. Has some great quotes too

I am Iron Man

One does not finish TOS, one shall watch it again and again :)

TNG gets very good after a slow start. DS9 was boring to me sitting on a space station. Voyager has its moments, but tbh I watched most of it stoned. I've rewatched TOS twice now as well as TNG, some of my favorite episodes many times. I started on Enterprise recently after giving up on it when it was on TV. Well at least they're flying around. Undiscovered country is my favorite Trek movie, the new reboot is mostly fluff.

Perhaps after I get through Enterprise I'll try DS9 again. It's on hold atm, watching Sense8 currently.

Btw there is an excellent documentary about Leanord Nimoy and the whole Star Trek saga on Netflix, For the love of Spock I think it's called.

Completed TOS last year, the updated version with new CGI. Felt the same, a little sad it was over. Finsihed Enterprise back in November I think. I'd already watched Voyager and the animated series in 2015. I've now got a choice whether to start DS9 or TNG and have tried to watch both first episodes and lost interest. TNG because I've seen it so many times before and it wasn't that good and DS9 has a very annoying central character I forget the name of that ruins every scene she is in for me. I need to be in a more easy to please mood before I can put either of these episodes under my belt.

At the moment I'm going through Cowboy Bebop and probably won't start either star trek series until I finish that.

TNG came out right after TOS. So you can give TNG a watch, and it's my personal favorite.

If you wanna follow the time line; ENT, TOS, TNG, etc

ENT is Star Trek Enterprise - Captain Archer, is first captain of the Enterprise set 100 years before Captain Kirk.

Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

DS9 is better done via Netflix where you can give it time. Gul Dukat gets my vote for most interesting personal villain in Star Trek history.

Question for ya, while watching all of TOS and the original 6 movies did you ever notice Scotties Right hand? Just an odd one, it's visible a few times during the series but I only found out about it afterwards, it's pretty nuts when you find out what happened to it.

Also Don't watch DS9 before watching TNG, there is literally spoilers to key episodes in the very first episode of DS9, you will ruin some great story arcs for yourself if you watch DS9 first, go with them as the series launched, tbh all of Star Trek is good, even the bad stuff still has some good elements to it, the best way to soak it all in is watching it as it was televised but you get the luxury of not having to wait almost 50 years to see it all.

TOS > TAS > TNG > DS9 > First Contact -> Nemesis > VOY > ENT > Star Trek 2009 -> Beyond

Star Trek The Animated series continues the 5 year mission of the original cast. Star Trek Phase II is a online series of episodes/films with people playing the original cast and sometimes original cast members cameo. It's Also supposed to be the continued voyages of the 5 year mission. Generations is the last mainline film with Kirk,Spock,Scotty. I would reccomend watching all of TNG first tho. Watch them as they were released. I been a Star Trek fan since 1989. This is what I reccomend.

Definitely TNG before DS9. Make it so.
