It's history repeating itself.

Just because something is in jest, doesn't make it acceptable.

Let's start getting this thread back on the tracks it's meant for.
In-case anyone needs a refresher...

So, to move back in the right direction, I would like to propose to begin a sub-group that works on building the community. I would like the mod team to offer me some support for this initiative, as I have a bit of motivation to get this going.

My plan is to draft a manifesto and a set of self-imposed best attitudes within the group, and work on that as a first project with the group.

As support from the mods, I would like some items:
- A mod-sanctioned thread to recruit some folks
- A discord channel tied with the vgchartz team (if you have one)
- Information on the orange Ambassador badges (if we decide that it is useful)

Thank you for any help you can give, we want to see people thrive here.

Can I just say how much I appreciate the mod team on this site?

I mean I may not always agree with the way things are handled, but on almost every other major forum I have been a part of, mods either let trolling run rampant and do nothing to stop it, or are despots on a power trip and ban people for the silliest reasons.

Here though, I feel like we're truly lucky to have a thoroughly decent group of humans who make a real effort to keep the community civil and fair.

Hats off to you guys.

Sounds nice. I'll make sure to apply.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

We already have a discord server that all users are free to join, many people frequent it and are in there all day long too, it's a pretty chill place. Although as for your request, I can't speak for the rest of the mod team, especially not the head mods, but I don't see why we'd need another team/group to focus on such a thing. I'll admit I'm not 100% on what you mean by "building the community", do you mean getting more people to join the forums, or trying to get overall behaviour improved? Because neither of those things need a group to sort out, at least not in my opinion. What exactly would your desired group do differently than what we're doing now, or we're planning on doing?

Glad to hear that, thanks! :)

I keep forgeting how heated this thread can get!

So, I'd like to announce a new feature that Moderators have recently acquired with the help/work of our Site Admin, TalonMan. We now have the ability to remove people from any thread (that is, should someone be enough of a troublemaker or cause havoc among users in a topic, they can be temporarily or permanently banned from said topic). Board Bans (removal from Forum Discussions, such as Politics or Sales) is also on the way.

NOTE: *This does not mean people will be banned from threads for simple disagreements or occasional fighting*

The idea is to ensure that a consistently problematic user can be removed to allow for better flow of threads. Think of it as an absolute last resort. Sometimes, they may simply be removed from the topic without a moderation (ban) from the site.

I'll be around for most of the day, so I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.
