The forum rules should give a pretty good guideline of what is and isn't worth reporting.

We're not saying that you have to be 100% sure something is a moderation before you could report it.  If that were the case, then you could just moderate the posts yourself, and we could cut out the middle man.  But, at the same time there should be some kind of rational basis.  If you're reporting a comment that's kind of borderline, that's fine.  If you're reporting a comment where there's no apparent reason, or simply as an excuse to complain that someone said something you don't like (even though it's not a violation) that's problematic.

Also, explaining why a post is a violation gives us context.  If there is a comment that is marked as "trolling" but it doesn't seem like trolling at first glance, we can look through the previous posts to figure out why it may be trolling in that context.  On the other hand, if you don't give us anything to go on, and we don't see anything that immediately seems like a violation, we're probably not going to go hunting for a reason with no idea what we're looking for.

If something is reported we'll generally look at the post, and if something jumps out at us that's not the stated reason for moderation, we'll still take action.  It's not like if you say something is flaming and it's actually trolling we're just going to ignore it.

This reminds me of something. Rather recently I reported an issue to you specifically via PM and you said that you'll bring it up in mod chat to see what the team thinks. The violation in question does not fall into a grey area, it's a clear violation. However, I neither saw something done about it nor was I given an update on what the team thought about the issue.

So I am asking for clarity here. Whether I get an answer in this thread or via PM isn't important, but I'd like some kind of answer at least.

I will PM you, as it may be hard to discuss without putting anyone on blast.

I think sales2066 is banned for a good reason, but i feel like that is because we allow bait to fester is a cause

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Threads that would be closed during the days of the ps3/x360 are allowed to run its course, i'm not sure that is because we are running on the idea of any content is better than selective content.
I see threads i made in those days to troll reappear, baiting groups of forum users, attacking specific users by posting what they could have said even if those users didn't.
Using claims without fact checking or only half truths, its easy and if done well is barely noticable as trolling.

It invites users as sales to take the bait and countertroll and sales is obvious a bad guy due to his history *rolls eyes*

You completely missed my point, i said i understand why he is banned and agreed with it.. but i was more concerned with the original cause of bait and borderline trolling that seems to pop up with the new gen

Fair enough (in your case). Perhaps I misunderstood you based on the latter portion of this...

I could have left the roll eyes out, but its easy to see his history and add another easy ban ( even if its more then justified ) vs seeing what is the cause of his reaction

The way moderation is handled in general certainly favors stealth and therefore doubly punishes people who are honest about it.

Isn't something that is done stealthily by definition less likely to be caught?

One big issue this site should fix is the Cookies framework as an opt in and not an opt-out.
Clear distinction for accepting all advertising cookies or essential cookies. This is important, because the site is available to users from EU, where GDPR is applicable and can lead to big fines, if found by a Data Protection Authority. As a person working in data privacy, i advise you to look into it as a high-level priority.

You can submit this request in https://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread/232694/the-vgchartz-website-development-thread-post-suggestionsfeedback/1/

This thread is for moderators specifically and not website issues/suggestions.

I did sorry for posting here, you can delete my post.

While you can make the case this ban is justified (https://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=9175728) the user in case has made a lot of good points regarding the topic, and this speaks to a bigger problem regarding VGC.
The mod team has basically allowed one of the most toxic topics in years to go completely unchecked. Sure, whatever, good call changing the title of the thread, but OP's intentions were clear just by the video alone and nothing was done. And it's everywhere. The fact a thread about Naughty Dog's agenda is open and on fire speaks volumes.

If we are banking on the site's discussion being about about Abby's biceps being unrealistic, you are setting the site up for failure in the future, and it is not a site newcomers would want to visit, lest you want 8chan refugees.

They should make me a mod i know how it feels to create troll topics thus recognise them best! Would have saved this guy from his ban, altho i would have banned him for his post calling a different user a cunt
