Your post reads like the mods are required to sign-off on your approval to be decent mods... And that just isn't reality I am afraid.
Perhaps both our wording has fallen short in this regard.

Every individual matters, that isn't even up for debate.

Hostile? No. Do I think I am better than anyone else? Also no.

But judging others and "evaluating" to see if they will be good mods because they are more likely to do things "your way" isn't a good attitude either, lets be frank and realistic about that.

Could I have worded things better? Yeah. I could have. - But it takes two to tango, remember that.

Mod protection isn't even a thing as far as I know. - I can only speak for me personally... But the mods don't generally favor any individuals or "protect" other individuals out of favoritism... And that is a good thing.

I already PMed you regarding this issue, but in the interest of transparency, I'll post the same thing here.

Permaban is the equivalent of capital punishment.  As a new mod, I didn't want to go to that extreme without consulting more experienced mods.  I wanted to do a ban immediately for obvious reasons.  From there, the rest of the mods and I can discuss it and adjust the ban as warranted.  Don't want to speak for the rest of the team but I don't think this will be the ultimate ban length.

Jwein did a good job in retrospect. We can always change the "outcome" at a later date.
