Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

You're as patronising and rude as usual and might prove my point that the ones who work for this site are not a serious sort.

Is this a real reply? Is this sort of joke tolerated as a reply to my questions or just to try to make me angry?

I'd like to post here to check the grounds on why I've been banned.

I was once banned before and complained to the moderator via PM, but I never got an answer, not even to say "shut up". So I'm afraid I'm going to send him a PM and not get any reply. I was banned by Bristow9091 on the grounds that I "attacked the Nintendo fanbase". He also said that I should, in the future, avoid posting on Nintendo threads. He also mentioned that my posts, and of course the post in question, is "not constructive".

This is my post:
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=9026388

I say that Nintendo fans don't care about third party AAA games but they get excited about them as soon as they get third party AAA games and celebrate how Nintendo does have third party AAA games.

How is that an attack?

Without getting into the comments you bring up about EA (for now), I just wanted to address the post you made that got you banned. Because I read it before, as we discussed it among the mods.

In that comment you're depicting people in a negative way, right? Calling them out for being hypocrites. (Saying they don't care about AAA, and then pre-ordering AAA games when they get them on their system.)
Obviously you know that no one likes being called a hypocrite, so the comment is meant to strike a nerve.

Okay. That in itself is not a problem. If someone deserves to be criticized or called out for something, then it's ok to do it in a constructive manner. And the way you did it could have been constructive, if you had for example said "Hiku and CGI-Quality said they had no interest in Halo Infinite. But now that it's coming to PS5, they pre-ordered it."

The problem is that you said "Nintendo fans". That means every Nintendo fan has a reason to be bothered by it, as intended. Even if they feel like it doesn't apply to them, they may feel that they/not many/ no one here said the thing you claimed. And that it's an unfair characterization of them.

If one Sony fan says something stupid, should people go "Sony fans be like.."?
No, they should specify that person when writing the comment.

If someone asks you "Who are you referring to?" the answer is commonly "I don't remember. Someone... on some other site that you can't verify, that has nothing to do with VGC."
But the only people reading your comments, and potentially being bothered by them (as intended) are VGC users.

That's why it's important when making negative comments designed to annoy or attack people, to make it clear if you are referring to someone who would be reading them or not.
Basically, avoid generalizations under those circumstances.

Ok, you say I'm flaming, but that specific topic is full of flaming against EA.

Two questions:

If instead of saying "Nintendo fans" I said "Nintendo doesn't care about AAA titles but celebrates it as soon as it gets one". Would it be allowed as saying that EA is lazy, all about gambling and money?

Can I throw negative adjectives to Nintendo (as if it doesn't hurt Nintendo fans) if I don't specifically put together the words "Nintendo fans"?

With those two questions, now I have 4 questions made to this board of moderators.

I haven't read those EA comments yet. I'll take a look later. But know that no one has reported any of those EA comments to us. So none of the mods may have even seen them. Let alone determined that there's a problem with them.
We did however receive reports (I forget if it was one, or several) for your post, which is how it was brought to our attention.

As for your first question, it could be considered a similar circumstance if the aim of that comment is still to get under the skin of Nintendo fans.
But of course, if you provide links to where Nintendo said that to support your claim, then there should be no problem. Then it's fair to call them out for it.

I suppose the answer to the second question would be similar. It comes down to the intent of the comment. If someone with no history of stirring the pot with large groups of people said that, the mod team would probably not assume that there was nefarious intent behind it.
But if someone with a history of baiting/instigating large groups says it, then we may be less inclined to believe their good intentions.

But regarding EA, the fact that none of those posts were reported, or any EA related posts that I can recall since becoming a moderator, kind of paints a picture of what we consider targeting a large group. If it's something that no one to our knowledge is bothered by, then it's also not a problem for us here, is it?

If I'm get you right, since it seems that nobody likes EA, it's fair to write posts against EA in a flaming and antagonistic manner, but as soon as someone else uses the same tone of flaming and antagonism against something that triggers the feelings of members and/or the feelings of the moderators, then it's set to a kind of flaming that is not tolerated.

So, flaming and trolling on VGChartz is not only based on the actual wording of the post, but the number of complaints and if the post has triggered someone?

For example, saying that "Nintendo doesn't care about AAA titles but celebrates it as soon as it gets one" is flaming particularly because there's no evidence (as you said before), however just posting that "EA is all about money" without no evidence is not flaming, because none has complained and obviously no mod care about EA at all?

So, it seems to me that I could've used a similar antagonistic joke against EA and not get moderated. My mistake was using the beloved Nintendo and it's beloved fans.

I think these two responses highlight part of the issue you’re facing. One of them is a typical sarcastic post from someone known to make those kinds of things (I’ll be fair to you one the side of being unaware, however) and the other makes a point that you missed. There was also COKTOE who noted the big three versus 3rd party companies (and he’s spot on). A post about MS/Nintendo/Sony is held to a different standard (given they’re manufacturers and not simply a dev/pub).

Also, yes, your history plays a major role, because it stamps where you went wrong and follows you around the site. What someone says about EA doesn’t change what you did specifically. There’s also more to your post than an attack on Nintendo.

Like I said earlier, I get that it can be frustrating, but you have to accept your part in it.

So I need to not only keep track of companies that I can flame but the guys round here that are known to be sarcastic? Can I be sarcastic about Nintendo fans? I don't think so.

Plus, the one that says that my point is invalid is just being arrogant and passive-agressive even though I'm not making a point regarding you mods being biased pro Nintendo, but accusing you of that. Which you can note or disregard but not say that I'm trying to prove or make any point.
