If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

You weren't addressed at all. It wasn't even your thread. Yet you came in and lashed out. Might wanna check who's ego is out of whack here. You blatantly broke the forum rules and instead of buckling down, apologizing and keeping your mouth shut you are still lashing out at people.

"Being pissed" isn't an excuse for anything.

You complained about a feature (and forum) that he (or the team he's a part of) recently implemented in a fairly negative way. So you were very much addressing his work/effort and I couldn't say that his intial response to you would be considered lashing out by any means. Also, he didn't actually call you anything while you've been increasingly sarcastic/asshole acting with a mod/admin who's working for free to help better the site. You should really take your own advice about shutting up and stop lashing out at/being unduly sarcastic with people. Just my two cents.

Again, trying to swing morals around like Poly. As if his work and effort "for free" have anything to do with it. This is about composure. And someone around here apparently doesn't have it and doesn't think he is beholden to the forum rules.

He might as well be creating an AIDS cure right now, that doesn't mean he is absolved from any personal responsibility.

But I'm gonna take your advice and shut up about it right now. I'm gonna try to ignore his future advances and won't let myself be baited into a ban. Rol seems to have a handle on it anyway.

I'm gonna take a break from the mod thread for a while. Too bad I cannot cancel my subscription to it, like in every other forum I've been in the past 10 years.

Just my two insignificant cents since you're already discussing this: vivster had a pretty sharp tone, in an annoying way (which, to me, seems to be the case quite often), to which TalonMan understandably reacted - but also overreacted. 'Obnoxious prick' is needed hardly ever: If someone acts like an obnoxious prick, their behaviour should probably be a bannable offense and the result should be a ban instead of calling names. I would expect normal users to get banned for a period because of behaviour similar to TalonMan's, with vivster staying withing the bounds set by rules despite his tone. This is probably one of those moments where I'm really happy I'm not a moderator though.
