No offense, but do you have any idea how many people are in the Chicago Metropolitian area? its probably like 10 MILLION people in the greater Chicago metropolitian area (and that's not including those who visit and/or pass through the region, and vagrants/wanderers often are a big part of crime in places).
The point I'm making is Chicago is probably one of the more crime ridden big cities and despite that its less than like 1/15000 a year being murdered or something. Bear in mind a massive percentage of those people being murdered are in fact involved in organized crime.
People throw out numbers and things always seem intense without context. The average person out walking to 7-11 in Chicago isn't getting murdered. Just saying.
