Probably Wang Yuanji since nobody can even touch you if you're doing it right.

And Raoh even more so, if we're including Hokuto Musou.

Zhou Tai, Xu Huang and Ma Chao!!

I would say Lu Bu for those as well. Except Ma Chao in 4 or 5 with his final weapon while mounted was really OP. All you had to do was take 2 or 3 swipes to officers and they dead, and for fodder you use charge attack and all automatically die around you. Not to mention that you are mounted and all of Lu Bu's suck mounted for the most part.

I did also like Gan Ning in DW3 as it is hard in DW3 when you get ambushed by a bunch of crossbowmen. If you Lu Bu, you can't just walk up to them at a normal rate or risk being 1 shot by a volley. With Gan Ning I just use Musou and 1 shot them while being invincible.

I can agree with 5,6, and 8. Though I didn't play 8. In DW7, I never really felt Zhong Hui as OP. I thought the game pretty balanced overall, but Wang Yuanji's damage and range was always interesting.

SW1 I think Uesugi Kenshin was really strong, and he ended up nerfed for later games. I have not played SW2 in a long time, but I remember extensively playing Fuma Kotaro. SW4 I think Yagyu Munenori is really strong, and is quite fun.

Dragon Quest Heroes: Terry is OP with his weapon.

For real?

But no stun lock? And poor crowd control? And relatively weak attack?

wat. She shreds crowds and fills her musou gauge so quickly that it's ridiculous even in a game that's built on ridiculousness.

Did that require high levels or anything? I only played her on the first level she was available thought `wow, she sucks massive balls!` and never wanted to try her again. Even when I was grinding her for the plat I used Zhong Hui`s weapon/moveset rather than her own (as I did for most characters to be fair).

Also, is she anything like Shang Xiang & Yue Ying were in DW6? I know they`re often thought of as two of the most powerful characters in that entry (surprised nobody has mentioned them yet) and I can see why people would think that, but I personally don`t like their playstyle hence why I`d take Lu Bu other either of them.

Yeah, Yuanji is definitely a grower. She starts off piss weak but turns into a screen clearing psycho by the end.

I guess she's a little like Yue Ying was in 6, only with stupidly fast attacks so you don't even have to bother with anything but the standard attack and musou buttons, even on chaos. Her survivability does suck, but you shouldn't really need it.

It's heart warming to see the DW love. With all the hate the series gets it's good to see more fans.

I never played it in a meta way, so i don't really know whats best per se. I just tend to have an easier time with characters that have large sweeping horizontal attacks. I used to really enjoy Fu Xi, until Guan ping took his move set. But they have progressively made him worse with each game. I really enjoyed the spinny musou.
I also enjoyed the old Gan Ning with a sword alot more than the redesign. He used to feel more pirate-y and fun to use with that high mobility musou where you cut down enemies in a line. Wish they brought that back for him.

Has anyone in here went deep into the character creation in Samurai Warriors 4 - 2 on PS4? I have not given it a try yet, but they have some pretty good characters on it with very nice crowd control. Yukimura Sanada for instance or Keiji Maeda. But I also felt that Date Masamune and Tokugawa Ieyasu were both very good as well as far as the Samurai Heros/Warriors games go.
