Pretty much the kind of reaction i expected. Unfortunely i am usually right. Wether it's beneficial to me or not. And i do know Marketing and Advertisment very well as i am a professional of the field. And you know what... their point is not to create demand. Marketing atempts to satisfy the needs of consumers. It doesn't create them. Advertisement atempts to wake up the desire to satisfy those needs. So, no you didnt blow my socks. I know you are one of those guys that wants this to work. Fair enough. Good luck. |
A professional what? Salesclerk at a known super market chain?
"And you know what... their point is not to create demand."
I'm under the impression you're disagreeing because for the sake of disagreement.
"The demand generation function in most businesses resides as part of the marketing organization. Demand Generation is a holistic approach to marketing and sales cohesion within the company. Building awareness is a vital component in the demand generation process. Building awareness often takes a continued effort and involves multiple facets of marketing."

"Good advertising will result in a positive shift in demand for a good."
"Koller said experiential marketing will be a big part of Sony’s marketing plans for PlayStation VR, which the company is launching as a new platform. "

However, you're saying, if Sony wouldn't do any marketing and advertising - "building awareness" - demand would be the same. Noted.
I also highly doubt you knew what you were talking when you wrote:
"Sony is already telling us how they want to incorporate this in more mediums to increase demand. "
What are those "mediums"? For virtual reality itself is a medium. What exactly are they telling? VR is relatively new, many people are unaware of it, it is still in an early stage. The market and the tech. Thus, companies in general are telling the consumer, making him aware of the tech and what the future is. You're are good example. You don't know much about VR (obviously), you compare it to 3D, say how limited it is and yada, because you don't know any better. Others are totally unaware of its existence. So what exactly is so out of place when Sony tells us how they want to incorporate this in more mediums? Whatever the exact meaning of this strange comment of yours is.
"Pretty much the kind of reaction i expected."
Uh, yea. And i expected professional hogwasher to react to this thread. Your point?
" I know you are one of those guys that wants this to work. "
And you're one of those clueless ones. As always.
