The manual warns that your device can and will rise in temperature which will limit its funtionality.  Yes, my cell phone felt rather warm to the touch after about 15 or 20 minutes of use while a message would consistant pop up warning me of such.  in fact, there was a time when I saw the option of 1080p.  I cannot recall the context, but when trying to access the 1080p option, I was warned that the option wasn't available due to the temperature of my device.

The VR experience was rather nice.  You can look around, above, and below while interacting with the virtual environment with touch controls on the side of the VR headset.  Just make sure there is plently of room around you so you have a fair amount of freedom to safely maneuver in a 360 degree motion.

Interesting, so you don't actually know what resolution it was runnning in? At least the screendoor effect should still be less with higher res screens even though the content can't match native resolution.

Is your viewpoint locked in VR like in 360 videos? Or is there a way to move laterally. I mean is it limited to 3 axis, or is there a way to get full 6 axis motion on a phone? I guess that's only possible with some outside tracking device until the headsets include inside out tracking.

Of course I knew the resolution of videos I've personally taken while the screen resolution of the Samsung Galaxy S7 is 1440 x 2560 pixels.  I guess it's like looking as a 1080p set at three inches away seeing the pixels.

In regards to lateral movement, I'm under the impression "no" because both tutorials mentioned nothing of it.  Also, when I tried stepping forward in one of the tutorials, my field of view didn't change.  But as someone else pointed out, he was able to use the headset with his PC to play games, but that would require a physical controller of sorts.

I have no clue what the 360 videos run at on psvr, they look very low res compared to VR games and also Netflix on the virtual screen. I thought it was my bandwidth yet it's the same after downloading a couple of videos. Very grainy with visible pixels, while I'm not aware of the pixels in Bound. They can be sharper as Eagle flight has a couple pre-rendered 360 degree cut scenes. However those are still more blurry than the game and no lateral movement during the cut scenes breaks the immersion.

I guess you can use a normal controller while playing PC games through the headset. Lateral headtracking is a big part of the experience though, I wonder if lacking that could make motion sickness worse. Plus parallax 3D is just as important as stereoscopic. Perhaps there's simple solutions on PC with a webcam. That might not track forward and backward all that well, yet sideways movement and up and down should be pretty easily done.

i had a choice to get this for free or a 256 gb micro sd.... so i end up putting more porn on my phone

And this is why I have zero interest in VR right now.
I have a galaxy VR or whatever they call it. Came free with my upgrade.
Tried it a few times and it was neat, but the novelty wore off super quick.
I'm sure a VR game would be neat for a sec, but after the novelty wears off it would probably be just another Wii game. You know a game gimped by controls. Those games where you have to grab a pen on the table or push some button the wall, or pick up a piece of paper and rotate it to see hidden stuff are just not intuitive. Whether its in 2d/3d or VR they are just not intuitive.

It depends on the game. It's very intuitive in I expect you to die. You can do stuff you wouldn't even know how to map to a controller apart from press x to activate a pre-made animation. However those full hand control games are a minority, VR offers so much more than Wii like experiences. The best part of VR is exactly that it is so intuitive. You drive around a corner, you automatically look into the corner and lean over a bit to look around the window support. You hide behind something, you automatically lean sideways to take a peak or lean forward to look through a keyhole or crack in the curtains. Make a jump while platforming, you automatically look down at your intended landing spot. Simply being able to glance at things from a slightly different angle by moving your head gives you a much better impression of what's around you. It's that freedom from the normal static viewpoint that makes VR.

But have you seen 2D porn through VR eyes...?

Seriously, I would have went 256 GB if given the choice.

wait wait wait i got the 256 gb micro sd... more space = more porn storage....

is it better to watch the 2d porn on a vr? i didnt know regular video is supported by vr

You could be potentially strapping a bomb to your head!
Something so exhilarating and yet close to death. Probably the next best thing to having an asphyxiation wank!

You can watch any 2d movie in VR provided that the video format is supported.  It serves as a virtual theater.  You can also surface the interwebz with it as well.  As I mentioned earlier, movies are "in your face."
