Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Will the Scorpio own the PS4Pro in EVERY hardware category?

Scorpio's core audience is more concerned about the difference between Xbox One and Scorpio brings, and playing console multiplats in their BEST presentation on the most powerful console on the market.

Everyone keeps rambling about how Pro's lackluster 1800p checkerboard stacks up against it....what was the last 1800p game we have seen that actually looks like a 4K game? I've been gaming 4K for many years, and i haven't seen but a few that look the part.

All we are seeing is inconsitencies. 1080p, 1440p, downsampled games, a few 1800p 'checkerboard' , a handful of 4K games mainly indies, hardly any 60 fps improvements, still dropped frames/frame pacing issues..etc... The PS4 Pro upgrade has been largely indistinguishable, certainly to me.

Anything more powerful and capable would be welcome.

I think the architecture will ensure a good chance that PS5 will be PS4 BC. The main reason PS4 isn't BC is because of the Cell. They would have to include a Cell chip in every PS4 for it to be PS3 BC. The PS4 is made up of 'off the shelf' parts so it should be no different to the latest PC playing older games.

That's my understanding but I'm not a tech person.

Another thing is that Sony was quite successful this gen with remasters of old PS3 games so why do bc if you can make extra money will little effort?

Maybe so but that's another subject. They could even do PS3 BC on PS4 through PS Now if they wanted but chose not to.

Yes, PSNow could be an option but it's technically the worst you can expect. Bad IQ, bad input latency, totally reliable on your internet access. Also it doesn't make sense to them to give you the games you already own for free as the tech is potentially quite epensive to maintain and to keep alive.

ps4 pro will be way ahead by then, the scorpio will be too expensive and looking at games, the bump up from ps4 pro to scorpio wont be as big as people think.

on a 4k tv, the checkerboard 4k vs true 4k isnt the day/light difference i dunno we will have to see

sorry, however convenient this stance may be it is just not so.

I'm sure you are more credible in this matter than Digital Foundry right?

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Theres a differnce, and this is the differnce there will be between PS4pro & Scorpio (at most) (this is PC max settings at 4k).

But that differnce is minor.

I think you're downplaying the quality of the service a little but yeah game streaming can't match the quality of playing the game from disk or hard drive.

But if costs could be why Sony don't want to use it for BC and without those costs is why we could see PS4 BC on PS5. You say that Sony can make money on remasters but it hasn't stopped MS from doing BC.

Of course not because MS has to deliver and they gave people bc for free.

But if it's such an amazing feature that boosts console sales, why wouldn't Sony do it?

Not everything that is amazing boosts console sales, yet other things do actually. Sony can't do it because it's technically impossible and via PSnow makes no sense and is technically just a bad solution.

by the time it's coming out we'll be speculating about PS5 and it's release

doubt it.

What kind of console could Sony build that really feels like a generation beyond these specs?

I also don't think it will be in discussion. They wouldn't launch a PS4 Pro in 2016 if they were thinking on releasing a PS5 before 2019-20. However, they already have a spec target, that's for sure. Maybe some prototypes. But it's too early and uncertain to leak.
