Forums - Movies & TV - Best and worst movies of 2016

Zootopia is the best movie I've seen in years, so that one for me. Fantastic Beasts and Finding Dory were also pretty good too. I haven't really seen a bad movie this year so I'm not gonna choose the worst one, I'll leave that to you guys =P

Edit: OH WAIT THERE'S THAT FUCKING ICE AGE MOVIE, that's definitely the worst I've seen last year, followed by the Angry Birds movie (I didn't want to see those btw, I just watched them because I had no choice really).

Best:  (these are actually okay, and probably worth a watch)
Rogue One
Deadpool
Zootopia
10 Cloverfield Lane..  and also.... Dr Strange

Meh:  (mindless entertainment at best, barely worth watching)
Suicide Squad
Civil War
Sausage Party

Worst:  (if you watch these your throwing money/time away)
Independance day 2
Batman VS Superman
Zoolander 2
Ghostbusters
The Arrival

Did you watch those movies on your worst list or just basing it off of what others have said?

Yes I did, watch them.

Ghostbusters wasnt good, neither was indepedance day 2,..... BvsS? cgi was okay.. storywise? crap.

The Arrival was good until about the ending, it ruined the story for me.  Zoolander 2 isnt the cult movie the first was for me, when I was younger.

I dont think there's anything on the "worst" list that doesnt deserve to be there, non of those are great movies.

I still haven't seen several movies released in 2016.

I barely saw any movies this year.... but of the ones I did see...

Star Trek Beyond: 7.5/10, Decent movie, maybe tied with Into Darkness but I would have liked the enterprise to stayed around a little longer, more scenes on the ship and space combat.

Suicide Squad: 4.5/10... Oh this movie... I had high hopes but in reality it was worse than BvS, Harley is a wonderful character and I really like Margot Robbie in the role and the design too, the issue with Harley is some of the lines of dialogue were just cringey and completely out of place. The villain was weak, the chemistry between the squad was weak, Joker was pretty horrible for the most part and hopefully gets retconned or something, because I don't want that Joker in the DCEU for years to come.

Batman v Superman: 5.5/10, It was mostly mediocre, Alex Luther or whatever the guys calling himself was done terribly, basically a joker copy with the guy being literally insane. A big issue with this movie is again how it relates to the DCEU as a whole. Batman is already an old man and has been doing his thing for a while... I don't like that, I'd have preferred if they had an actual Batman Origin story for their cinematic universe. They should have done a Batman solo movie before BvS, it should have been such a huge event.

Warcraft: 6/10. I've not played much of the series (around 10 hours of WoW and none of the strategy games). But I did enjoy this film, I thought it was good fun, it wasn't a fantastic film, but it was a good enjoyable film.

Ghostbusters wasnt by any means great but I found it to be nowhere as bad as the internet made it out to be.

Yeah I thought the same, I have been shitting a lot on that movie but when I actually saw it I found it quite entertaining, the girls were fun, is a dumb forgettable movie with low cinematographic value but it wasn't terrible, is actually better than Ghostbusters 2.

Deadpool is a good candidate for best movie imho

Edit: thought The Martian came out this year

Honorable mentions for movies that I didn't watch in the years they came out but I watched from my backlog: The Martian, Bridge of Spies, The Purge trilogy

I haven't really watched many movies this year but here we go...

Favorite:

Civil War

2nd favorites:

Rogue One and DeadPool

Fighting for the Least Favorite spot:

X-men, Suicide Squad, BvS (the extended version actually helped to sort out many of the issues I had with the theatrical version but they shouldn't have released it that way to begin with)

Actual least Favorite spot:

TMNT 2 (One of the worst movies I have seen in years.)

You know..  now that I think about it, most of the movies I saw this year were superhero movies..     hmm..     interesting.
