Forums - Gaming Discussion - This was the year when a lot of big(ger) gaming Youtubers ran out of steam

This year I unsubbed from a few non corporate youtubers that I had considered my favorite for years. Some of them became way too monetization centered, others started running out of ideas and repeating themselves, others went into directions that did not interest me, and I realized there's a lot of smaller channels who do the same thing and some of them do it even better so.

The most obvious one is AngryJoe - millions loved his angry reviews and that was the meat of his channel, but this year he started making less and less of those and started making movie reviews and trailer reactions that very few people care about.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Super Best Friends Play are now (temporarily) back to being Two Best Friends Play. Angry Shill lost me this year for various reasons. Cinemassacre has refocused, not sure I like where James is going with it. Escapist is back to being the Zero Punctuation channel. A few smaller channels I subbed to dropped off (presumably the content creators graduated to big kid jobs, some moved to a podcast format).

Didn't realize until just now how radically different my sub list looks compared to the beginning of the year.

I dunno, i really only watch fail army on YouTube and that always entertains me lol

That is one hell of a misleading title.

A better one would be 2016 is the year YOU got tired of angryjoe.

You gave one example of one youtuber.

Angryjoe has been a mess for months, just go look at his channel discussion and video comments, he is losing thousands of subs per day.

I can give 5 more examples but I don't want to name names.

2016 really? To me these game channels started to lose their charm and channel purpose years ago, Im still subscribed to them but I wonder myself for how long.

AVGN started to lose its quality ever since he finished his movie all I see now are Mike and (insert name) plays, product mini reviews and movie impressions/reviews which are all okay but most of which aren't that funny or interesting anymore and what everyone really is waiting for is another authentic Angry Nerd Review.

Angry Joe used to be my source for best and worst games of each year because of his helpful and funny reviews 2010 - 2014 were his prime years everything was great about his channel but now all he does is complain, come up with excuses and does movie reviews I'm not even excited for his Angry Reviews anymore.

Yeah I don't know about this. These moronic and infantile youtubers seem to be getting more and more popular.

Now it's this fad of clickbait guns/ drama/ news / giveaways that are getting people millions of fans.

2017 is going to be even worse.
