Being Nintendo is using the term...Switch is a home console first and foremost when do you think a successor to the 3DS will launch? Being it wont replace the 3DS according to Nintendo.

The thing you're quoting means that the Switch will not instantly replace 3DS. So there will still be games for it for some time. But that's it. The Switch makes it easier for everyone. If they were to actually release another dedicated handheld not compatible with the Switch they'd be stupider than Nintendo.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Nintendo 3DS successor will be the Nintendo 4DS, that allows the player to control time at his/her will.

Sadly, that will break the space-time structure, making the question unanswerable.
