I loved 1-3 (mostly for the campaign) but Gears 4 was just

-we need to find someone.
-we found them but now, they're gone.
-we found them, now let's go find someone else.
-we found them. Roll credits.

I was really disappointed. Game was beautiful at times, though. Combat was as good as ever.

This is shocking!

Yeah. Took me a month to find the motivation to beat it. And, to this day, I've never beaten Judgment. Sad because Gears was my absolute favorite series, last gen. Gears 1-3 still get played to this day. There's just something about the chemistry between the guys and the variety of situations in those games.

It's more than just throwing enemies at me. It was a flow that they had and nobody could replicate. 😞

--just my opinion, though. For some, it's the best campaign, ever. (I think an ad said that)

I enjoyed every other Gears campaign except Judgement much more, though to be fair I haven't played them in a while. Maybe I'll get back to it after The Last Guardian.

Also, mutliplayer wise the only one I really ever got into was Gears of war 3 because that got me into the franchise. Definitely the best still even if it's a bit unbalanced, Gears UE also had great multiplayer. 4 is fairly balanced but there's some real issues for the multiplayer I doubt will get addressed, I just don't like the microtransactions either.

I still need to try multiplayer. Haven't touched it in any game in a while. Horde mode was always awesome.

Wow, 95%. For comparison, which other 2016 games would you put as 2nd and 3d?

Doom @ #2 and Quantum Break @ #3

Cool. Yeah, Doom is fabulous!

Oh cool Gears talk!

I absolutely loved the campaign, for me it was only second to Gears of War 2 as far as story goes. From gameplay's perspective it was the best yet, pacing of the action was so much better than previous games. Basic storyline is simple, yes, but come on can you say there's anything more going on in 1st Gears? And Gears 3 was just disappointing, Karen Travis knows how to write books but her writing didn't work in a video game, it just felt off.

New characters are a bit bland but there's room for development there. Only negative thing about the campaign imo is that it was a bit short. Multiplayer on the other hand, has lots of negative aspects even though I think it's the most balanced and fun Gears MP yet.

edit. oh I think I've put around 200hours to horde and versus multiplayer so I'm definitely enjoying it despite all the negative stuff :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the shit out of the campaign, and I actually don't think it's much shorter than the other games. But the characters are really what makes the story in the first game great, and the new characters are bland as hell.

I haven't finished the game just yet, and I assume they all survive. But I would be totally fine if they all died and they just used new characters in the next game. I also could not care less if we even find this girl's mom, because they spent zero time developing or filling out these characters in any way.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I did enjoy the Horde mode like sections of the campaign. Would have been even better if I'd played co-op.

Yep I do agree they are bland. They're not given much background and they seem too similar to each other. Marcus, Dom, Cole and Baird were perfect for a game and story like this, they were likeable the first time they were introduced. They all had different characteristics too. I'm hoping we'll learn more about these youngsters later, now the old geezers ran the show. Gears 4 as a whole is like a build up for another story and big events imo. Gears 1 threw us in the middle of it all and the universe was then fleshed out by sequels, books and comics.

I agree. We had three "Nathan Drakes" hanging out with Marcus Fenix. No diversity in their personalities, despite looking different physically. Also, no huge baddie to hate. No Locust Queen. No General Raam. No Skorge. Just some random monster at the end.

I finished the story mode today! I don't have time to really have time to go into it because I'm at work, but I'm interested in what other people thought of the ending. Please use spoiler tags if you're going to go in depth!
