I think this is a huge misconception. More likely than not the vast majority of millenials pay absolutely no attention to the "safe space" debate at all. They're too busy going to school, working, and starting families to worry about this kind of shit. Which is largely just an internet debate. Not to mention that a large chunk of millenials have grown up fighting the longest war in American history.
This is just another case of a generation being told they're undiciplined babies by the generation before them, just like has happenend with every other generation. |
May be a missconception, but unfortunatelly a lot of the millenials I happen to know acts more or less inside the steriotype made to them.
But I agree with you that it's quite possibly just the vocal minority that are very annoying.

Absolutelly, as a kid I was bullied as well and what that happened was not suicide or insanity, it was: 1 - Self-observation to understand if part of the criticism was deserved. Most of it really was. 2 - Effort to overcome part of the weakness. 3 - Accepting the weaknesses that were not fixable (like being a short guy). 4 - Realizing my place in the social arrangement and finding ways to get into the spots I wanted. 5 - Growth, understanindg the social fabric.] Most of this was unconscious, cause it was simply the process of growing more mature and becoming a adult. |
Yep, similar to me.
I have curl hair, average height and were very skinny and quite ugly with fabulous grades. That led to all kind of jokes with my hair, being a nerd, etc. Neither of them prevented me from having a few but good friends, finding a wife and having a good job.
A part of bullying could or should be corrected? Sure, there are some people that go really overboard. But usually the best way for that is teaching how to fight back and filter, because you'll never be able to control what others do and how they will try to harm you, just how you'll be able to overcome it.
