I am throwing a huge prediction, and that is that Sony will launch a new handheld device.... And it will do EXTREEMELY well if..... They relaunch the PlayStation phone concept.....

Modified Android OS, with a new PlayStation symbiotic OS mixed in, I'm talking easy to call people, easy to text, and easy to mix your PSN account with ur phone # and FB account(which the FB thing is happening already)

Sony should lunch a PLAYSTATION PHONE, drop the Xperia name.... And have it feature all of the above... A 5G device with specs near Xbox one levels(which isn't too necessary considering its main goal is to stream from home console, but this will allow it to have original content and ports from console for those that want that).

One word: Cost.

A handheld with the things you've mentioned will cost a fortune, and I don't see it happening regardless, they wanna focus fully on the PS4

I think its gonna be priced too high and it will flop like the Vita did.

Also 5G hasn't even rolled out yet in first world countries and if it has, its only in a few countries. That along with data caps and latency won't make it a good device for PSNow outside of a good wifi cause even if it does have 5G support, the distance from the cell tower increases latency significantly.

And tbh, considering how Sony supported the vita, I don't mind not having a Vita 2. I sure won't buy one after the Vita. Guess what my vita has been doing currently? Nothing

I am gonna sell it the moment the Switch is avaliable for Pre-order

As much as I'd like for something like this to happen i highly doubt sony will attempt to release another handheld console again after the poor sales of the ps vita comapred to its competitor and predecessor.

The only thing i can possibly see happening is sony upgrading the ps vita like the new 3ds and then trying to market it as a ps4 pro like upgrade to the vita

Nope. Too expensive, and very few people are going to be willing to compromise their phone experience for a gaming device.

Could even hurt the PlayStation brand.

i would rather they just put ALL PSP games on iPhone with on screen controls and ported all Vita games to PS4/iphone tbh..

It'll cost $599 or $699, via carrier subsidies it'll be accessable to the mobile market...

Sony should position it as a flagship nexgen Android meant to compete directly with the iPhone..... Imagine having the option of a legit PlayStation phone with a silky smooth OS, and lightning speed internet with a beautiful display to top it....

This system will require an LTE connection.... IMO since it'll be a phone.... I think with mobile data moving to a 30-40gb use per user in the u s this streaming concept shouldn't be

Too drastic, and they should limit the quality of the streaming... To around 540p that would be perfect to reduce lag

i always wonder as well... would the Vita have been a lot bigger if it was called PSP2... so many casuals even to this day don't know what a PS Vita even is..
