I love James Rolfe, but not the AVGN movie.

Here it is my sincere opinion on what went wrong with the AVGN (Angry Video Game Nerd - James Rolfe) 2014 movie.

My thoughts on what it was (from  my review on IMDB):

I like the Angry Video Game Nerd a lot, his reviews are very funny. So, it pains me to say: this is one of the worst movies I ever saw in my life, and certainly one of the worst comedies. It is almost embarrassing and ridiculous. It could be so much more if it was a little less: less effects, less over the top crazy action and less cheese scenes. It could be a sincere, down to earth comedy about a nerdy gamer that becomes a celebrity, but, instead, it is a crazy mess about aliens and some esoteric side plot about a ancient robot god or something.

I really do not think it is a matter of budget, the story is really really bad and unfunny, embarrassing really. It could be like CLERKS, with no budget whatsoever and be great, it is a really bad movie, for any budget. And 350k is a big budget for him, it is really not a matter of money. They should had someone honest to read the script, I guess all his friends were afraid of saying how bad the whole thing really was. Such a shame. What a sad movie.

My thoughts on what it should have being:

- Use Mike Matei, Kyle Justin, Bootsy, Ryan, the AVGN staff.

- Do it like Ed Wood or Clerks, or even Wayne´s World, a down to earth zero to hero history about being a nerd and getting unexpected fame and fortune.

What do you guys thought on the movie? Now that 2 years have passed.

It was awkwardly bad, I almost felt sorry for him. The moment he announced the movie I knew he should just stick to what he does best, but trailer was surprisingly good. I guess complete crap script was the main reason why this movie sucks, it becomes a mess soon after start. The reporter girl who is supposedly one of the two main characters because the story is built around her, completely loses her role, other characters have no incentives, its just a painful to watch mess.

I agree 100%: the reason is the script, which is a confuse mess filled with things that do not fit together at all.

I haven't watched it yet, but I'll assume it has the same issues that Beavis and Butthead had. You just can't make a movie about it?

It's a lame movie, nothing great, not really funny and the review at the end was weak at best but honestly I wasn't expecting this movie to be good in the first place so i wasnt that dissapointed. AVGN said the movie was going to be something like the NWC episode just stretched out to be a whole movie.

I'm more worried with the AVGN series quality wise the episodes have gone downhill ever since James started working on his movie but now it's even worse. I do understand James is now a husband and a father so he cant spend all of his time on bad game reviews but yeah, if you're going to do an AVGN episode put some more effort into it and stop forcing comedy and guests stars i just want the same old good and entertaining reviews.

Beavis And Butthead Do America was pretty good imo.

Never seen the AVGN movie. I think James Rolfe can carry an episode were he talks about shitty games, but I dont think he has the acting talent to carry a movie.

He could in the way I said in the video: like a mockumentary making of of AVGN, using the real friends, Mike Matei, Bootsy, Kyle Justin...

This movie is cringeworthy at best. I couldn't finish it, because of that. He just should stick to what he does best, reviews.

But this somehow went way over his head.
