Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 30 of the top Eshop games on the Wii U

WiiU had a great selection of indies and eshop games, including some very good exclusives, I think nobody gives it any credit for that though. Oh well, the new Shantae is being great so far, last good game on WiiU until BoTW.

No Art of Balance or The Swapper? Those were two of the best games eshop had to offer. Terrible list. :P

Can't really agree with everything on the list but still pretty decent

Yeah, Trine should be in there, and I must say that I'm quite fond of Mighty Switch Force.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I'm surprised the Trine games were omitted also.

I mean, the second one I thought was kinda rubbish, (if beautiful to look at) but the first was pretty decent.

Played some of these on other formats. I'm not keen on downloads for wii u and to be honest have both xbox live and psn plus and they give out so many indie games per month I'm swamped with them plus I often buy the cheap PC compilations like bundlestars etc. I think all I have is NES Remix and Zelda windwaker as downloads on wii u. I do tend to try all games that are available as demos.

On that list are a few games that I didn't actually think were that good on other formats. I'd prefer a list of exclusive wii u eshop games because frankly Nintendo charge so much for these games that if your a multi-format owner they are generally much cheaper elsewhere.

I liked the mexican theme but for playability thought Guacalmelee was complete rubbish. I think I got it free on psn plus and it was part of a PC compilation costing a few pence but £11.99 on eshop!

Nintendo will probably be dropping wii u eshop support too in the near future.

I hope they do a better job with Switch with both pricing and a commitment to maintain support for the long term plus an eshop account by user not console.

I

Interesting i barely look on the eshop because the prices are stupid and they have shitty sales.

The Swapper was my favourite and I'd put Child of Light and Art of Balance on that list as well. Sure, I know the criticisms of Child of Light, but putting a game like Runbow over it seems weird to me.

People complaining about the prices probably don't visit the eShop that much. Most games were 50-75% off or in one of the humble bundles. Curved Digital published games were all 1€ etc.

I may get Severed and Axiom Verge when they're on sale again, but that's probably it, Shantae was the last eShop game I was looking forward to.

It wasn't on the list, but I am having a lot of fun with Steamworld Dig. Reminds me a lot of an old flash game called Mother Load, except this is fleshed out. It was on sale in the eshop for $2 recently. Great deal.

And why should we give them credit when any other platform has even more good indie games?
