Almost 80k PS4's.... not a bad week.

Around the Network

Pokémon S/M has hit 2.9m ( including double pack )...
If anyone wonders how much is the aggregate of 3ds models sales last week, it's 134k.

3DS hit 22m last week when you include the missing 100k pokemon R/G/BW 2ds limited edition units sold.

Also, it has surpassed PS2 to become the third  or 2nd best selling system ( if you separate GB/GBC because of being essentially two gen handheld console, gbc came nine years after GB and had its own brand new vast game library )   in Japan's video games market history...

Like last year holidays, these two old 3ds Mario games show up with decent sales... LEEEGSSSSSS

Mario Kart 7
11/12/01
8,299
2,694,863
78

New Super Mario Bros. 2 (Including included version)
12/07/28
14,468
2,488,181
78

I wish Super Mario 3D Land was in top 20 too... Perhaps, it's not too far from it.

Also; PS4 Pro sales are poor, it seems I was right in thinking that it won't be spurring the PS4 into a fantastic 2017, or the fabled 20 million selling CY.

And no one thought otherwise.

The Pro has barely had any marketting whatsoever in Japan. Even at TGS, it was regulared to a mere mention while Sony pushed the Slim. With the way the console market is in Japan, cheaper is better for consoles. Pro is just for enthusiasts in Japan. Sony knows it. We know it . And slim is doing well for them.

Seems like 4 million LTD by the end of the year is on the cards.

Well, there are quite a few users in here who have used the Pro as a rather large part of their arguments as to why 2017 will be the PS4's peak year, why it will see the magical 20 million CY barrier broken and overall extend the PS4's life cycle a great deal. It's a common set of arguments, surely you haven't missed them?

Personally, since the beginning of the 8th gen, and even before, I never believed in another long-lived generation, I don't believe in utter domination and 100 million + selling consoles, but I've been challenged all the way, things like the PS4 Pro is/has been a large part of the counter-arguments. "How can you think that they 8th gen will be shorter when we're getting updated hardware like this?"

Look at handhelds, look at the 3DS having to re-invent itself basically on an annual basis to keep selling. More revisions was one of the predictions I made in the UNITY thread, and I also explained the mechanics behind them down to the details, and these revisions is actually an unmistakeable sign that the industry has indeed changed into a setting where static products can, will, and indeed are, struggling to really gain and maintain momentum and the writing is on the wall; this will be a shorter generation, not despite PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio, but because of them and the reasoning and market needs behind them.

Sorry for going all boring and slightly off point, but the PS4 Pro has been touted as the be-all, end-all of the 8th generation, by quite a few and its impact has been massively overestimated in my opinion. We still need solid figures for the West, but it won't change much in the long run even if it manages a decent "new hardware excitement" debut.

Hmm, they track the PS4 Pro as a separate console? Wow, these lists will be getting crazy long with PS4 Pro, Xbox One and Scorpio, all the 3DS versions, Wii U and Switch with possible different versions.
We're gonna need to change the front page!

It's sold out across Japan, why do some people keep saying things like this when we have been repeating over and over again , get over it, Ps4 will sell 20m on 2017, probably more.

Why is the ps4 and 3 ds selling so high ?

SaGa: Scarlet Grace sales are not horrible. But I feel disappointed because it had the potential to sell so much more than that. What a shame. :/

Youkai Watch 3: Sukiyaki is the true flop of this week though. Level-5 should really worry about the future of the Youkai Watch series.

Final Fantasy XV is dropping very fast week by week but 1M retail should still be a given.

Holy crap for Minecraft, 90+ weeks after release and it's still selling 20k+!!! That is insane!!!
It's going to reach ONE MILLION retail in the last week of 2016!!!

PS4 and PS Vita hardware are doing both very strong!!! Amazing work from Sony these holidays!!!

I agree.

But let's not forget either that the Pro can still be hard to find in Japan (at the official price). It will never set the charts on fire, but we need to wait a bit to have reliable numbers.

Better than expected based on pre-orders, poor in general for the franchise.

hmm, that just leave the question then, is it poor for the franchise because it released so close to Pokemon, or is Level 5`s crazy milking of the franchise finally harming it`s sales?

I would say both. It seems Youkai can't take a release when Pokemon is still fairly new, but this is also a third version of an installment of a series with little to no breathing room between releases. Nevertheless, I expect Youkai Watch 4 to be released on both 3DS and Switch, or the series is going to shrink fast.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Are Miitopia sales good or bad? Because I don't see those numbers good at all, but this is probably just a cheap project, so I don't know how well it needs to do. Minecraft Vita almost reaching a million retail over there, it seems (if it hasn't reached it already). Also, YW release numbers are becoming smaller and smaller with every new installment, this is what happens when you overwork an IP.

This week are somewhat good, because it sold more than its FW, showing signs of significant durability.

The current week is the biggest for sales in Japan for Nintendo, so you may see Miitopia almost doubling its FW sales.

Btw thank you Kresnik for doing the Media Create thread in a good format again!
