Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why is everyone freaking out about the Switch?

It's because it's a hybrid console that looks really unique and fresh.

That's false, the only marketing they gave to this thing was showing it like a clear hybrid, both in the reveal trailer and in the Jimmy Fallon show, an obvious hybrid, you can use it as you want, whatever else they say in a report only people in forums would read is irrelevant, is clear that they are marketing it like both.

I remember clearly on the reveal a post saying Nintendo was calling it a home console on a note about it.
I can't say if what was posted here was true or made up, but it was definitely posted here, and people here talked a lot about it.

I think it was related to this: http://www.polygon.com/2016/10/20/13347910/nintendo-switch-home-gaming-system

That's why I wrote this part:

"...whatever else they say in a report that only people in forums would read is irrelevant"

The general public goes by what they see on the marketing, and that's where they show Switch as an hybrid.

helping the topic:
If is soo weak, and so low clock setup, why would it need a cooler fan?(or even the passive cooling system while not docked)
Tablets with higher pressets and clocks dont need that.

It worries some people , but not for me . I am just a little bit disapointed , that they could have made a little bit stronger

HYPE HYPE HYPE!!!

I will buy all Switch versions ever!

That's not cool, you are saying someone is being false when it clearly is not.
If you personally choose to take something or not, it'ss a thing, but calling it false because of a personal rule to selective exclusion is just wrong.

Nintendo is, in fact, calling it a home console, just like JRPGfan said, that's not false.

Nintendo is calling it a "first and foremost a home gaming system" probably so people don't say they are getting out of the homeconsole market, but that's irrelevant, if the console works like both and the marketing shows both sides why do we give so much importance to semantics?

Because weve yet to hear about any games really that are new and exciting. let's face it, that's the problem, and Nintendo's fault completely.

Anyone who is bitching about power and hardware and all that silly stuff didn't want to get the console in the first place. People are just looking for stuff to complain about, because haters gonna hate. Anyone who is that desperate for power and grfxx gets a PC anyways. My rig runs circles around the PS4 Pro.

Then there's the "But wut about teh 3rds?!" folks. Who are also just bitching about nothing really. Of course you won't find the same games as on PS4 and X1 on the Switch, that was never the point of the console. Nintendo chose a different path. Nobody is forced to like that, but it's stupid to cry about that they aren't making a new PlayStation, we already have 2 of those. Nintendo Switch will have more than enough 3rds. Did the 3DS lack third Party Titles? I can't complain.

Ok, lastly there are the people who are saying "I want just one console, so I NEED Third Party titles!" Fair enough, go get yourself a PC or a PlayStation then, seems like the better option for you. What's the point in bitching about Switch? Most people are able to use two platforms just fine. But if you really only want one or can afford just one, just get whatever the hell suits your personal preference best. Variety is actually a good thing, you know. With that there is something for everybody.

If I would care about power I would have never gotten a PS4 or X1. What use should I have even for the Pro or Scorpio when my GTX 1080 with 9 Teraflops is declassifying those consoles? Well, the use is in the games. I really like some of the PS4 titles running on dat piss-poor 1.8 TF hardware. Not once did I care about the graphics. I have absolutely no doubt I will also enjoy many titles on the Switch, despite it's power that barely surpasses a potato.

At the end of the day, it should be all about the games. Hardware doesn't matter so much. If the games are good, I'll get any hardware you throw at me. Hell, despite me owning that monster of a 1080, you know what I do most of the time? I play on my laptop with a Geforce GTX 960M. Really poor GPU in comparison, just barely stronger than the X1. But I still prefer it many times because of convenience. Then again, I only have my super-fast PC because of my job, it was never really intended for playing games. But there's also nothing stopping me from using it for that. =P

I support this very much!

Read directly above your comment. That's the problem.

It should be noted only Nintendo's overseas branches are using the "home console" moniker.

Nintendo's Japan PR and site, which is basically the "source" does not use that term for the system, it's simply a "game system".

Likely they are using that term to insulate 3DS sales, in Japan it's not really as necessary since the 3DS sells well there no matter what, but sales have been more up and down in the West.
