Forums - Movies & TV - Assassin's Creed movie reviews are out (it's bad, folks)

So far, looking at a 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now I'll be the first to admit, I don't play Assassin's Creed for the story. It's preposterous, I understand. But this seems like a complete setback for the franchise altogether. Co-produced by Ubisoft themselves, they really have no one else but themselves to blame for this movie turning out like it did. The reviews are still early, sure, but I don't really see it skyrocketing from here.

I think they just sealed the fate of the company's independence at this point.

It dropped to 16% by the time I clicked the link. I'm absolutely not surprised though. This was doomed to fail. If the action is halfway well choreographed, I may still consider seeing it in theaters for fun, but otherwise it just helps to further the divide between video games and movies and how we appreciate and interact with each of them.

Assassin's Creed is very confusing. No, scratch that: It's a mess.

Sounds like a faithful adaptation at least.

The company's independence? Who is going to buy them out?

Vivendi is attempting to be majority shareholder.

Videogame adaptations being terrible? What a surprise...

Color me surprised.

Assassin's Creed plot is a big mess imo, so I didn't think they could solve it and adapt it well to cinema.

It's crazy how video game movies are rated so low. The highest I could find is Prince of Persia with a 36% followed by Resident Evil with a 34%.

Surprise??

Hitman isn't any higher?? Think they're the best video game movies I've seen.

Only video game movies that'll ever get over a 70 is stuff like punchout, uncharted, etc.

I can see punch out being very successful, since most boxing movies typically end up ranging from good to amazing
