I am just a little disappointed.They at least would have the same clock speed as Nvidia Shield when it's dock. But half the speed cpu and gpu clock even if it's dock , is unimaginable.

Yeah. I can only guess there was som sort of design flaw on their cooling system discovered only very late in development; or perhaps the 20nm chips they are ordering are very, very loosely binned as to improve yields and reduce costs, and thus are much more power hungry and run hotter than the ones used on the Nvidia Shield. It wouldn't be the first time console GPUs have done this to keep power consumption down since the chips are loosely binned, the XOne/PS4 GPUs run on average slower than the Radeon HD 7000 GPUs for the same reason.

Yeah that probably   be the case  (and what mostly happen on console design chip),  but Nvidia TegraX1 is an old Chip back from 2013 -2014. It should have been improve on the yield side.

Having to be so underclocked in undocked mode isn't that surprising actually.

A 20nm Maxwell Tegra consumes electricity (relatively to a mobile chip) like a fat kid eating cake.

The Shield console is 20 watts total ... that's a *ton*. A portable device can be like 9-10 watts on the extremely high end and all that can't just be the GPU, you have the CPU (which apparently is locked at full clock), RAM, LCD, WiFi, etc. that need power too.

Because the thread was about power? The xone is like 4 times more powerful than a wii u and switch is like 2.5 more powerful than a wii u when the device is docked, that's like 1.5 behind xbox one, hardware wise that's close.

And I don't care about the power at all, i have my pc for that, I care about the concept and the games, but I see people that don't even know how these consoles work whining because some media site told them that the switch is not powerful enough, and now "omg I'm so disappointed pre order cancelled" so they don't even care about the games or concept?? I say If they have such a boner for power buy a gtx 1080 and plug that shit inside your ahole

Maybe they just want Nintendo console that's on par in terms of power with current gen systems and thats what they should be getting.

All I'm saying is wait until January 12th, it's not even a month away. I'm sure we'll be blown away at this event. Nintendo wouldn't hype up something like this on the 12th just to show off Wii U ports and old PS4 ports...I hope. Then again...Cranky Kong....
