I'm curious as to if people would like a new game set in a WII setting. Would people be interested in it? Would it have an appeal within the near future?

Personally I think in the end it needs to be unique and not just some joy of guilty pleasure. It needs to show the fear and horrors of war to the players. To highlight the pain, the anguish, and the suffering for all the sorrow that was endured by that era. Too many WWII games tend to have little substance to them and too many gamers just unleash their fury and vengeance upon the axis. Even though you still would... but it desperately needs some substance to stand out.

I will state that I'm not really a fan of WWII games in general but I know their appeal and quite curious on peoples thoughts on this topic . Personally I would be potentially interested in something unique if it can be meaningful to the player. I also quite enjoyed Wolfenstein: The New Order. That game was fantastic and very well designed.

I am sick of old and futuristic. I want modern.

Eh? I assume you don't like Battlefield or COD, because we've had a crap ton of shooters with a modern setting.

Time to go back to WW2 imo... anything but modern or future anyway.

1980's or earlier.

Nahh. I have had 1200 hours with cod mw2 and quite a lot of hours with mw1. Wasn't a fan of ww games not to say they aren't good or anything but rather, not my taste. Its one of the reasons why I didn't buy bf1 regardless of how good looks. As for future, I played Cod:AW but the other ones don't look quite as good as AW's gameplay did.

And yea, I didn't like Cod Ghosts and etc but who did? Those games weren't anywhere near as fun as mw1/mw2 imo.

Idk, I just like modern technology cause we are here and now. Not what could be in the future or what has happened in the past.

It's not a case of gamers being sick of anything it's more a case of developers not over saturating the damn market.

To be honest, Im sick of the time periods being the main catch. Why does the focal selling point for all the mainstream FPS series need to be that they are in the future and use only futuristic weapons, or they are WWII games and pay attention to every single detail to make sure it is exactly like WWII.

Meanwhile you have Splatoon that focuses on gameplay, has great music, a ton of background lore, and became one of Nintendo's new most loved games after only being released once on a dead platform.

You also have Overwatch that focused on gameplay and characters, as well as being ridiculous, and people cant get enough of that game.

Or how about the obvious Team Fortress 2 that continuously gets new content, and is able to have the same feel that recent FPS games have and have a personality of its own.

Ive come to the conclusion that FPS games should not be their own genre, FPS is just a gameplay mechanic. Meanwhile the time periods that people obsess about are merely gimmicks. And as Nintendo has proven for the past decade, people dont want gimmicks, they want it to be good. And I really feel that this reason, as well as the oversaturation of FPS games on the market, that will cause the genre to crash.

Hopefully World at War II is in the works at Treyarch, granted it wouldn't be out until 2018. Unless Sledgehammer is going to do it ( I hope not )

Would love to see vietnam or even korea. We almost never saw any FPS games in those settings, and I think it could be a great genre to try.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I am sick of modern and future FPS games, I want new WWI, WWII and Vietnam games.

I was never sick of them. Those were, as far as realistic shooters go, the only ones I liked! I quit military shooters when they went away from WWII.
