Ah, I'm sure thats over estimation but still, he has a point. Doubt anyone could hit below a 700 price unless they were buying wholesale. Damn, A card alone to meet the PRO costs as much as the PRO or near it.

Pro is $400.  I can match the GPU for $180.  Less than half.

Intel Core i5-6400 - $183
MSI H110M PRO-VD PLUS - $45
GeIL EVO (2 x 4GB) DDR4 2400 - $45
Thermaltake Smart Series 600W - $50
Antec VSK4000E Case - $40
Radeon RX 480 - $180

Total - $543

Far below the $900 from the developer.

That's not quite how it works.

Shhhhh, let him build it for you and buy the controllers and peripherals first lol.

Besides the usual squabbling over how much a discount PC costs that might be able match pro performance, I find this a lot more worrying

Many PlayStation gamers would be willing to play Ark: Survival Evolved via PlayStation VR. Back in June, you told us that you still planned to do it – is there any update on this front?

We’re currently evaluating whether we can do it as an exclusive feature to PlayStation 4 Pro. If we can, then it will be straightforward. The performance requirements of VR are intense!

I have the pro, yet this is not the right precedent to set. I hope Sony stands firm by their promises. Enhancements on Pro fine, shit should still run on the base ps4 at locked 60 fps.

lol @ that performance. Even on Pro it will struggle to hit 1080p60.

Maybe they meant you need to spend $900 on a PC to match their shitty performance on Pro?

Not for VR. VR is extremely demanding. ARK is a horribly optimized game. I understand the need to require PS4 Pro for it, but I doubt they will be able to pull it off.

If they think hardware in the PS4 is equivalent to a $900 PC, then we know why all their games run like shit on everything.

"On the PS4 Pro, 60 FPS at 720p,or 30-60 FPS at 1080p, depending on “Detailed Graphics” setting."

That's the performance I got back when I had a 750ti. And that costs like $100 nowadays. Either the pros performance is overestimated, or the developers don't know what they are talking about.

Not on this game you didn't. I could play Empire Earth at 1080p 60fps on a Radeon 5450. Nice.

haha, I love the way this is worded.

Yup, will likely result in a horrible looking VR game, only playable on Pro. VR doesn't need that kind of advertising.
Resident Evil 7 opening hour demo looks great, runs great. Dunno if it has pro enhancements, yet it's doing everything right.

Just stop comparing consoles to PCs. There's nothing to gain.

I'm sure there's plenty to be gained for someone who is looking at buying a gaming system and is trying to decide on whether he should build a PC for Gaming or buy a Console.

Well, it's pretty simple. If you're a real graphics whore and always wan the best possible image quality, there's no way around PC. Sure, it will be a little more expensive, but that shouldn't matter if you're REALLY that much into graphics. If money is an issue, get a PS4 for 249, that way you'll have more money for games. Besides, on PS4 you're dependent on the goodwill of developers. You may have some powerful hardware, but it will only be used if the dev decides to make a patch. You're also out of luck if you're still rockin' 1080p as most PS4 Pro titles won't show a significant difference over the normal console. On PC, you can max out your hardware always and with every game and set the options just the way you like it.

That said, let the games decide, not some silly hardware stuff. If you're into Uncharted, The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy, go get that PlayStation. If you're more into Civilization, Star Citizen and stuff, get a decent PC.

Oh, and for the smart people who want to throw an Operating system ans peripherals like controllers into the price comparison: If we're going there, let's also not forget about the costs for a plus subscription and the higher game prices. Good luck finding Mafia 3 for 8,99 € on PS4. No prob on PC.

But anyway, all I wanna say is that a choice really shouldn't be that dependant on hardware itself. Each and every platform has its very own advantages and disadvantages. Just choose for yourself which one fits your needs best. But don't try to convince other people that there is some ultimately best choice, because there isn't. And if you have the money, I can only recommend getting all platforms. That's the way I'm rolling and I'm having a blast with it. =P

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

$900 PC?!!!! And to think the ps4 pro could be got for $340 on BF. Insane value for a gaming machine!
