Considering how short the story is, I'd have to agree. Kingsglaive should of been apart of the main game instead of cut off and mad into a movie. Would of loved to actually be inside the Crown City. (not counting when go back and the city is in ruins after 10 yearas)

I just finished the game last night, aside from chapter 13 i really loved the game. I just wish it explained things better aswell in regards to story

I've said this in every thread but XV truly could have been something amazing. Maybe my GOAT. It.needed 15 to 20 more hrs of story. It needed to flesh out the characters more as well as Lucis and Nifelheim. It's really a shame I enjoyed this game in some parts and not in others but I can see how this would have been so damn good.

Kingsglaive should have been the game.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

IMO XV's biggest flaw is how the game has a fantastic story but fails hard to tell it.

The game desperately needs a prologue of some sort but if they used Kingsglaive for that (for those who don't know, the movie released before the game) it would have spoiled a big part of the story.

With how short the main quest is (compared to other FFs at least) they could have added a proper introduction to the world of Eos and the main and side characters, they could have added the necessary background knowledge in cutscenes or in gameplay instead of optional text scattered throughout the game, they could have included some proper buildup to pretty much every major scene in the game.

The way the story is told is just a big mess.

well in Nomura's version it was all in the game, and the leviathan battle was even more epic (check out XV announcement trailer).. thanks to Tabata we might never see it, just to meet the release date he rushed out a game which could have been easily the best FF of all time.

Here's something everyone interested in the game [and those who have already played the game] should know:

Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XV. Having shipped five million copies worldwide, Final Fantasy XV was truly able to achieve great results. To the many of you who purchased the game, I would like to express my sincerest thanks.

Currently, I am hearing that an exceedingly large bunch of players around the world are enjoying the game to their heart’s content. All of the staff are truly happy with how content users are with this new way to play Final Fantasy.
As promised from before release, Final Fantasy XV is not going to be released and then that’s the end of it. From here on, we will continue to update the game to provide a richer gameplay experience to players around the world. And as thanks for surpassing five million copies, we decided to strengthen the update plan considerably beyond what we originally planned, and will share a concrete roadmap.
These are short-term, mid-term, and long-term updates separate from the previously reported downloadable content that make the Final Fantasy XV gameplay experience even richer and get you playing longer, together with updates based on requests from players after release, that we will offer free of charge.

Final Fantasy XV Update Roadmap

Short-term goals

First, we will further increase the gameplay satisfaction level of Chapter 13. For that reason, we have already started work on many enhancements, such as significantly enhancing the power of ring magic and so on. We will announce details on these enhancements and when we plan to offer this update at a later time.

Mid-term goals

We will enhance the presentation of the second half of the game, and further enhance the satsifaction level of the story experience. For example, we plan to add event scenes that depict things like, “Why does the character Ravus follow that fate?” Since we’re doing localization work to have voice support in all languages for the the added event scenes, we’re taking this on as a mid-term goal. Project details will be announced once they have been decided.

Long-term goals

We will make important characters that appear in the main story of the game available to use as playable characters. Also, we will consider adding an avatar system to create an original character to play the game. In addition to this, we plan to actively continue updates so that players can enjoy Final Fantasy XV over a long period of time.

Others

Play a new game while carrying over your status from a cleared game. We will offer various items that expand the breadth of gameplay, like for low-level clears and invincible suits. We will increase the font size so that messages are easier to read. We will offer content such as boss battles complete with rewards and achievements, limited time mob hunts, etc. in order for you to enjoy the game live.

It should be noted that the already announced downloadable content will be released as originally planned.

- FFXV Holiday Pack

- FFXV Booster Pack

- FFXV Episode Gladiolus

- FFXV Episode Ignis

- FFXV Episode Prompto

- FFXV Online Expansion Pack: Companion

On behalf of the staff and all players around the world, we hope you will enjoy Final Fantasy XV even more. Thank you for your continued support for Final Fantasy XV and the Final Fantasy series.

FFXV Director Hajime Tabata

I wonder if it was Tabata or some SE higher up on the buisness side of things. Sounds to me like this is the MGS5 TTP of Final Dantasy,

Yes and No. I Remember reading in one of tabata's interview about the change, he said that square wanted to make changes in the way final fantasy games are developed, like eliminating hierarchy withing the team (refering it to as Final Fantasy Diseases) and also make the story which was spanning over three games to be told in one single entry.  So I assume it was tabata's decision to axe out the story of Insomnia invasion and dumb down levianthan fight, and the strange thing is that both of those sequence were up and running and were demoed in 2013. So in the process of condesing the story tabata took this short cut, instead of giving us 70+ hr game he made a 25 hrs game.

Also I loved Luna, but she was downplayed tremendously which only goes to show that stella's story arc was so essential to the story line that the final image (if u have finsihed the game) just completely loose its impact and falls apart. The bottomline is I think Nomura and Nojima story was more focused on love story, and tabata is focused on Friendship.

So did tabata ruin or save XV?

Tabata didn't write the story of FF XV. Saori Itamuro wrote the scenario based on the original draft by Nojima.  And according to Shimomura herself: "The basic scenario and story concepts haven't changed that much. They're quite similar to what they were originally. There have been some changes, small scenario tweaks and the game's functionality itself has changed."

There's so much bullshit being spread left and right about the production of the game. Yet nobody know a single thing about what changes were truly made, when they were made, and who made them. And people also talk as if Tabata did everything himself. He's the director, but that doesn't mean he is the only creative force behind and driving the game. -____-
