Forums - Gaming Discussion - So much wrong with Rocket League, but I discovered ranked and now life is good

1) First of all there needs to be some kind of a player filter, for example you can't play multiplayer until you have played with bots and scored certain amount of goals and made certain amount of passes, otherwise a lot of clueless players join online and do stupid infuriating things like kick the ball to their own goalkeep and make passes to opponents which in Rocket League ALWAYS in 100% cases end up with trouble. Yesterday I had three straight games with different players where teammate kicked the ball in our own goalkeep and scored in absolutely unneccessary situations, not ricochets or defensive plays but simply kicked the ball because they could.

2) They need to end throwing players in middle of losing, hopeless games, NOBODY wants to join games like that, everybody rather will wait 2 or 3 or 5 minutes to start a new game rather than join a losing one.

3) I should be able to choose which maps I want to play in multiplayer, their current like/dislike system doesn't cut it. I don't like the maps that they recently added and now I have to jump from game to game even more frequently until I join a map that I like and a new game that starts at 5:00.

I hope devs will come to senses, so far it seems to me that they have made a great online game but are doing everything to spoil it.

Yeah I just play ranked and the one map I don't like rarely comes up

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

I personally have no issues with it!

You should visit the official RL forum. There you'll have nice company among people with the same complaints.

1. Complaining about bad people in a team based online game? What a novel thing to do. Except there are a lot of very easy solutions to this problem.
a) Get yourself team mates. It's easy, you can get yourself ten of them any day. That's what I did.
b) Git gud and carry your mates to victory. That's what the good players do at least. Or how do you think the Top 100 players got there?
c) Play 1v1. Then you can't blame your failures on somebody else.

2. It's a weird situation but I don't really see a problem with it. It's casual play and wins or losses don't count at all. Why not just see it as a comeback challenge? And if the difference is too big, why not just stay until the end and prove to the players next game that you wouldn't have lost by crushing them? People like you who are just leaving because of losing are creating that problem in the first place.

3. Get gud. Sorry, but I can't say very much more about this. You should read my exposes about this in the official forums. It's the most complained about thing in RL but I still don't understand it. At least if your talking about ranked.
If you're just annoyed about the maps in casual mode, the devs are working on improving the new map preferences. There might be a patch for it soon.

Overall I can just say that I hate people who complain but are actually part of the problem. People who leave losing games are what made casual play so shitty. It wasn't that bad in the beta or in the early months of RL.

What level are you? I'm veteran and never experience your first point.

Point two isn't really fair to the people who have teammates quit because the other team got 2 quick goals so now they're stuck with the crappy a.i. Teammate

a) Get yourself team mates. It's easy, you can get yourself ten of them any day. That's what I did. - How?
b) Git gud and carry your mates to victory. - How can I carry mates that strike to own goalkeep to victory? That's what the good players do at least. Or how do you think the Top 100 players got there?
c) Play 1v1. - Not my thing, I prefer the standard 3 vs 3. Then you can't blame your failures on somebody else.

2. It's a weird situation but I don't really see a problem with it. It's casual play and wins or losses don't count at all. - I did not say anything about that. I don't mind losing as long as my teammates are at least half decent and do what they can. Why not just see it as a comeback challenge? And if the difference is too big, why not just stay until the end and prove to the players next game that you wouldn't have lost by crushing them? - Usually most players leave after a hopeless game. People like you who are just leaving because of losing are creating that problem in the first place. - I never said that I leave losing games that I start.

3. Get gud. - I already am, probably better than you. Sorry, but I can't say very much more about this. You should read my exposes about this in the official forums. It's the most complained about thing in RL but I still don't understand it. At least if your talking about ranked.

The driving physics aren't realistic, either. If you know a lot about cars, like I do, you'd see that.

You make too many assumptions.

You said in your OP that you jump games until you find one that starts at 5:00. That means you leave games that you join midway.

Finding friends is very easy.

Method 1: Play casual until you find someone good you think fits your playstyle. Send invide. Repeat. I had zero friends on my friendslist before I started RL because RL is the only MP game I ever played. I currently have over 50. All met through casual play.

Method 2: Post in the friend finder subreddit. I did that once last week which got me 5 new potential mates, one of which I'm currently climbing the champion ranks with. Best mate I ever had.

The next thing you need to consider to calm down a bit is that everyone has a bad day. I have several every week where I could fit right in with prospects. I've ruined games for people who are on a good day way worse than me. If you looked at me at a bad day you would think I cheated my way up where I am now. That's why I usually only play ranked on my good days.

You also need to consider that every goal you concedeis rarely the fault of one single player. Most of the time every team mate fucked up ion a chain that created the specific event to occur. Don't ask your teammate what he has done wrong, ask what you could've done to prevent the scene from occuring. You ask why the palyers are passing back to you, why are they even in that position? Why isn't the ball in the opponent's field? Why haven'Ät you scored 5 goals already? Only when you can find the faults in your own play you can improve. And unless you play a zero mistake game you just cannot blame anyone else for errors. Hint: Not even pro players play zero mistake games.

BTW You're probably not better than me because there doesn't exist anyone rank champion or above that has the same complaints as you. The good players are the ones that power through the bad ranks. Once you reached a proper MMR you will get almost exclusively good mates.

It's a fun game, but it actually depends so much in luck. After some time, you notice that it's just a bunch of dudes trying to randomly hit a ball with random jumps while praying that it will result in an amazing goal. It's a more casual game, you have to play it just for the fun, it does not have any competitive value whatsoever.
