Forums - Politics Discussion - [Update] CIA & FBI Report: Russia did things to help get Trump elected

So I guess it was the Russians who put the worst possible candidate as the Democratic nominee, thereby handing Trump the presidency. DAMMIT RUSSIA!

Hah, well said.

I was saying that to someone the other day, dems picked a nominee with a ton of baggage and a not so great record. Yet they're upset at Russia for potentially letting us now how corrupt she was.

It's absolutely astounding that people are trying to discredit this simply because they supported Trump.

Get over yourself. It doesn't fucking matter who you supported. Leave your bloody, stupid party politics at the door.

The important thing is that a foreign country was taking covert and illegal actions to influence the election of the President of the United States. That cannot be allowed. It helped your candidate get elected so you're alright with it? Grow up. It could very well be reversed next time. No one should ever be alright with that, regardless of who won.

This needs to be taken seriously in Washington--and I assume it will be taken seriously, as I'm sure the CIA is aware that this is more important than just the Trump and Clinton Show.

I also would like to add that steps should be taken to tighten security oversight and implement tougher punishments for cases like the Hilary Clinton and Colin Powell email screw-ups.

Its so fun to read this thread... If 5 years ago somebody told me that americans will be seriously discussing how Russia influenced next president elected, I'll just laugh in his face! )))

Guys, you've screwed yourself. No Putin or evil Ivan with balalaika on steroids needed for that. And I seriously think that Trump maybe the best choice for USA. You need to get your shit together.

Hillary would start a big war in Middle East. And just brake USA completely. You can't take f...n Mosul. USA advisors are with terrorists blocked in Aleppo. You just need to take a pause and rethink on what America is doing and is it in America's interests.

The US influences elections in other countries regularly

And almost the entire rest of the world including Saudi Arabia, China and the EU did the same thing for Hillary, including donations

no shit Sherlock.

Every country picked a side in the election because they would all benefit differently depending on who is in power.

It is no different then local media pushing their own agendas during elections.

Move on nothing to see here.

i guess we got a lot more out of this election than just a bunch of anti-trump protests.

Highly surprised Russia was even able to bring some sort of influence.

If this happened like, say, four years ago, I think the response would be much different. One of the more interesting recent turns in America's political divide is just how little each side trusts each other. The rise of fake news stories, various stories of corruption involving Trump and Clinton, and myriad of conspiracy theories have all played a role in this. In short, it's not that people discredit it because they vote Trump, it's that they don't believe it because of their political leanings. That is the truly scary part, in my opinion.

And this goes both ways, too. Clinton supporters who were adament that election fraud could not possibly exist were willing to donate millions of dollars to a recount fund after their candidate lost. People's beliefs are changing at a rapid pace to simply suit what's convenient to them. If it's anything the other side says, it's a lie. If it's anything your side says, it's the truth.

Meanwhile Trump supporters were screaming conspiracy theory. Of course it was a different conspiracy. Thank you to everyone who fell for it and voted for this scumbag. You most likely ended the world.

Hillary was a different way to end the world. The only difference lies in either having a Pro Russian president or nuking each other to Skyrim...

But this isn't something which wasn't known before the elections, people went in to vote knowing who the backers were of each candidate, I mean I would hope they knew because it was mentioned in the 2nd and 3rd debates a lot.

US citizens were still the ones who went out and voted on the day, if they want someone like Trump that is their prerogative to vote him in and see where he goes from there. It is both the best and worst part of living in a democracy.
