I don't believe Sony will be as arrogant as they were when the PS3 launched. They suffered for years and bled billions. I don't really see why it is you think Sony would be arrogant. Their decision to omit a UHD blu ray drive was just that...a decision. They felt that 4k streaming is the future. Whether we agree with them or not. I don't really see that as arrogance.

No BC so they can leaverage PS Now.

No CD player (after lying and saying they would, look it up)

Pay wall for MP

Lack of AAA PS Plus games

Upping cost of PS Plus $10

Not using all that revenue to make their servers as secure as XBL

Not allowing you to change your own background to leaverage paid background themes

Microsoft did just as much bullshit on their end at the start of the generation. So no, they're no exempt from the bullshit either.

Will there be another generation? Part of be feels like the everything has changed. If that's the case, gaming consoles will just have incremental updates.

If there is another generation, I doubt think Sony will underestimate the competition, again.

I dont see why would they. The only time I think they got cocky, as far as im concerned, was with Vita and they're leaving that entire market behind.

I don't see PS going PS3 ever again. They went back to their PS2 sweet spot, not to high, not to low, right in the middle, and its working wonders for them. If anything, PS will continue to make their money through software and service going forward, and will sell PS5 at cost. It will be designed to be a worth while upgrade, while not making it to expensive that they leave that middle space, but also enough to compete with MS.

This gen reminds me a lot of the PS2/Xbox gen, which also makes me think MS is going to do the same thing they did then. Launch next gen "early" (360/Scorpio) and try to shift the momentum their way. This worked last time, but wont be as easy this time since PS5 will not be $599, will not be anything other than x86, and will most likely be BC.

I would think Scorpio goes for a $499 price as well, to try and push PS to launch PS5 not only sooner than they would like to, but more expensive than they want, to compete hardware wise, pushing them into the mid-high end level that doesn't sell near as quickly. Whether this leads to PS subsidizing PS5 somewhat to move more consoles quicker, or if PS sticks to their "no subsidizing" rule and PS5 sells much more slowly at first, it will benefit MS and Scorpio and will give them an edge next gen that they don't have now.

I've seem a bunch of people talking very fondly of you here through my stay, but now that you are more active and I'm watching it myself, lol, yeah, your posts are just great xD

Well, thanks! That puts kind of a lot of pressure on me, so this post will probably be my last one. But thanks, anyway!

They already have.

Dropping handhelds was absolutely bonkers. They're giving up Japan to Nintendo completely, even PS4 there will sink because home consoles are just secondary there and the Switch dock is enough to cover the whole home market.

And Japan (market + japanese games) was the biggest edge of PlayStation against Xbox. If Nintendo does not screw up, Sony will probably end up in third next gen, and Pro might lose to Scorpio.

That is just overreaction. If the Switch takes the place of the 3DS. The 3DS market will purchase it on Japan, but the PS4/5 will still have the same market to sell.

The home+mobile thing if just something to make Nintendo get support. The 3 party support, if the Switch has it, is what will sell the console.

As long as the PS5 isn't a box that only streams games as part of a subscription I think they'll be just fine.

They might get complacent and it will bite them in the arse. The more successful companies get, the more of an arsehole they become.

Just like Apple's Iphone 7...
