Do you think Sony will get cocky next generation with the PS5 and start implementing user retrictions and forced funtions like only digital formats (no disks) etc. Are we starting to see it already with no 4K drive in PS4 Pro? Will Sony drop the ball to second/third place. History is against them Sony, MS, nintendo, Sega have all done it. What's your take?

I don't believe Sony will be as arrogant as they were when the PS3 launched. They suffered for years and bled billions. I don't really see why it is you think Sony would be arrogant. Their decision to omit a UHD blu ray drive was just that...a decision. They felt that 4k streaming is the future. Whether we agree with them or not. I don't really see that as arrogance.

I don't really think so. This isn't a PS1/PS2 level blow out. But then again, I apparently couldn't be more wrong. So probably!

Next? They already are and it began with the PS+ price going up and still not fixed security. I said tit before. Nintendo got arrogant after NES/SNES. Sony got Arrogant after PS1/PS2. Nintendo got arrogant after Wii. Oddly MS got arrogant even tho Xbox 360 did not win. Nintendo and MS now are more humble and Sony is arrogant again. Nintendo if Switch does very well will be right where they were after Wii lol. It's an endless cycle. Why competition is needed to keep putting one another in their place.

They dropped the ball once. And they have made 4 consoles. Sony has the habit of getting it right apparently.

They won't repeat the same mistake for second time, plus that their video games division must have become their biggest ( expected with that beast ) , they might  almost rely on it, most of their other division doesn't seem to be in a so good shape! Hence,  they cannot afford to pull a ps3 again, don't worry,

I think this is the oppersite.

Sony paid alot for its hardware design choices,... with the PS3.

Now instead of assumeing everyone will just pay extra for their hardware, their very causious about what they put in.

This gen Microsoft was arrogant.

They assumed everyone would pay 100$ more, be okay with forced kinect, wanted always online only system, insane DRM practises, region locked, that physical sales would be only licenses (no used games), ect ect. They didnt care about Privacy issues, spying via kinect ect,...

Even the UHD Blu-ray might effect how low MS will be willing to sell the Xbox One Slim for...... which could cost them hardware sales.

Microsoft fixed changed alot of that, after the negative public reception it had with the Xbox One in 2013.

I feel like they have a better grasp of the market, and they have learned from the Vita and PS3. I definitely think the strategy with PS5 will be different than in previous generations though. I thnk PS5 will be a full line of products, Consoles, Laptops, Portables, and Phones all running on a scaled chipset, and a unified OS.

I would not be shocked to see them have up to three PS5 models at lanch. A $399.99 base model is an absolute shoe in. I think a $499.99 model with increased GPU and CPU power is also highly likely, and an even higher priced premium model for enthusiasts may be in the mix as well. This will allow them to hit the price sensitive consumers all the way throgh those that want 60fps in all titles.

This generation is laying the foundation for a new kind of console market. I think next gen will be about embracing that vision, and expanding the userbases of all manufacturers. Consoles should become the defacto devices for TV, eliminating set top boxes, and even PC in most households.
