The whole "common decency" is bunk, employed by PC culture warriors to stifle criticism of their tactics. Do you consider attacking or name-calling someone with a certain political view or religious faith an example of "common decency?" Because that is exactly why there has been such a huge backlash against "PC culture"over the past several years... because it employs a different set of rules and standards for people based on their race / sex / orientation / religion and political views.
While people of minority ethnicities, faiths, and sexual orientations are part of the protected class status and basically off-limits to jokes and political criticism in PC culture, these same PC culture warriors have no problem criticising and mocking people for their views who fall under the white / Christian / heteronormative categories, or people who are members of a minority group but do not share the same group-think views as the PC culture warriors do (think "Uncle Tom").
Being against political correctness doesn't mean having carte blanche to say whatever you feel like whenever you want no matter how outrageous without consequences, it's simply being against social tactics employed by one group to weild power over and to stifle dissenting or opposing points of view over another group. Today's PC culture is no different than yesterday's religious crusades against "herecy" and non-believers who don't subscribe to the religious orthodoxy of the day.
