Why only limit yourself to 60fps? You should try 120fps or 144fps or 180fps.
I literally spent half an hour just moving the mouse cursor around when I tried a 120hz panel.

TBH it won't be as fast as PS4 since it starts installing crucial parts of the game so you are already playing it in 2 minutes while it does the rest in background. If it's a digital download, you can even start playing before the download finishes.
If you mean downloads, then it's true. PSN at least is quite crappy with speeds when it gets just a bit of load from users.
|
So the PS4 is going to be faster than say... 16x SSD's in Raid? I think not.
Besides, playing before a download/game is installed is not platform specific, the PC can have it to, it's not tied to any specific hardware, it is completely up to the developer.

Using a 15,000rpm Mechanical disk isn't exactly slow.

And also i am not saying consoles is faster then PC or even match the speed of PC , i am saying PC dont have fast loading as well, it depend on how the configuration of the HDD, and yes even 7200 RPM is not that much diffrent from 5200 rpm, it's louder, hotter and consules more power for consoles. The diffrent is hard to tell.

*Chokes* Whaaa? There is a big difference between a 5400rpm and 7200rpm mechanical disk drive, especially with regards to random reads and writes.

Right, it's just that this whole thread is basically about Comparing PC Gaming to Console Gaming, otherwise there isn't a base line and no way to so what is good and what is bad. :P
But yeah Steam Servers are insane, I get about 9 MBytes/s downloading games from there, only about 4 MBytes/s from PSN.

Internet providers around the world also host their own Steam servers, so ther really isn't a set limit.
Testing a line over in Adelaide I was able to do 100MB/s. It was LAN speed.

Then you are doing something wrong. Windows 10 is happily using 1.8Gb of Ram on my system.

Yes, I'm planning to get a 256 GB SSD for quite some time. The 1 TB units (I have 4 X 1 TB HDD) are expensive as hell.

SSD are starting to be really cheap now. The prices got cut in half in a year.

Especially drives using stacked TLC NAND. 1 Terabyte SSD's are now affordable.

In my experience the PS4 is way faster overall than gaming on the PC, the OS is way faster than windows especially in the cold boot. Games run a lot faster unless you are using an SSD on the PC, and the PS4 Pro has even faster loading times. You can put the games into sleep mode and every one of them will be instantly in the status you left it if you turn on the console, you can install games and play them at the same time etc.

No.

1440p is starting to look like the middle ground and sweet spot for me. It's not as expensive as 4k and it offers that bit better resolution than 1080p. I'm also aiming for that new CPU/GPU combo to go with the res upgrade in order to keep the 60fps as much as possible (though I won't be afraid to turn down some settings if the need arises).

1440P is a great resolution if you wish to have great image quality and keep costs low. It's the new 1080P really.
I have had a 1440P panel for probably about a decade now, I don't think I could go back for gaming.
