  fast and easy installs.

TBH it won't be as fast as PS4 since it starts installing crucial parts of the game so you are already playing it in 2 minutes while it does the rest in background. If it's a digital download, you can even start playing before the download finishes.

If you mean downloads, then it's true. PSN at least is quite crappy with speeds when it gets just a bit of load from users.

I don't own a PS4, I'm not comparing.

I'm just saying it's fast, Steam, Uplay, Origin, all the servers are fast. And so is my internet connection.

Now I do own a WiiU and a PS3, both are really shitty in that regard. Sloooooooooooowwwwwwww

I mean.... faster digital sure, assuming you have fast internet steam servers are a lot better than PSN.

Right, it's just that this whole thread is basically about Comparing PC Gaming to Console Gaming, otherwise there isn't a base line and no way to so what is good and what is bad. :P

But yeah Steam Servers are insane, I get about 9 MBytes/s downloading games from there, only about 4 MBytes/s from PSN.

To be honest i prefer the 4k over the loading times

Nothing here says "compare PC to console". It's about what you like about PC gaming. I choose to say that I like these stuffs, I'm not saying all those stuffs are not on PS4 or one, some are, some are not.

Games are cheap on Xbox and PS4 too IMO. But I don't own a PS4 or an Xbox One. And I try not to compare platforms, or I compare them against the previous one like WiiU VS Wii or stuff like that. They are all different, good and bad in their own ways.

"Short loading times". Short compared to what? Consoles.  That's exactly what this thread is about! If you don't have anything to compare it to then you can't say something is good or bad.

short loading times.

if you use SSD i asume

nope, loading times are short with or without SSDs, actually the difference is so minimal that it is not recommended to install your games on an SSD.

It really depends on the game, some games do only see a minimal impact from SSD (5%-ish) but there are also a lot of games that see a big boost.

Skyrim: HDD - 47.4 Seconds, SSD - 34.4 Seconds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYpC7czuP2c

GTA5: HDD - 49.17 Seconds, SSD - 27.07 Seconds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ic6ttIGZEE

PS3 sucks big time specially because it needs to go through an install process even for digital downloads. And it can take almost an hour for big digital games like UC2. I don't want to derail the thread with a PS3 rant, but it also takes too much for normal install, you can't do other stuff while downloading patches and you just know a patch is up when you fire the game. This last stuff made me quit LBP2, because each time I try to play it I'm lacking GBs of patches. I have dozens of games, I sometimes stay a year without playing one of them.

However, it is not a good example since it is already last gen. Wii U is made with dated tech too, so it suffers from similar issues. PS4 basically fixed all of the aforementioned issues.

Quite some people are also talking about it. While you aren't comparing, in the end when we talk about what we do like on PC gaming (or any platform), we end up comparing it with other, because you do need a baseline. Stuff that is common between any platform ends up being irrelevant as "best thing". But fast install can be a point because basically only PS4 has it.

100% Agree. I'm always pissed when some site recommends a build and just slaps a 512 GB SSD there instead of an HDD. Games nowadays have 50 GB, you really have to spend a small fortune to get enough storage with SSDs, unless you're happy with just 5 games on your PC and constant unninstalls/reinstalls.

Terrible recourse handling on Windows 10 thanks to the flurry of background Apps. No seriously, with all the background apps running, the OS once spiked to gobble up 9GB's of RAM, crashing the game I was playing.
What the hell is Microsoft even thinking?
