If they ban the face veil (something happening in a few places due to security concerns, I think they should follow through with this principle and prove they are being just and ban anything that covers most of the face and have a law that makes it illegal to wear anything that covers X% of a face e.g.
Masks, balaclavas, scarves, hoodies, knitted hats in combination with scarves, coats that zip up your head etc
If security is a genuine reason then do it properly not half assed.
I don't see why women in a full veil are considered dangerous or a security concern. More unveiled women have committed crimes / killed than those who wear a veil. I don't see alcohol being banned although it is the cause for a lot of deaths, altercations.
As for the hijab ban, what about the Sikh, Christian, Hindu equivalent? Will they only ban Muslim women wearing a scarf or anyone wearing a scarf on their head?
Also the veil has very little to do with integration. I've seen women in veils go to theme parks, Eat out, go to school, have jobs, make friends and socialise etc. A friend of mine who is Christian said she was able to recognise all her friends in veils via their shoes, handbag and mannerisms. Her friends wedding veils made little to no difference in her socialising with them.
If equality means men can wear what they want, I can't see why women cannot. The security thing is completely BS. If you really wanted to kill / cause harm, a veil / hijab won't stop you. It's not like women can't hide shit under a coat, in a handbag, in a purse, under a baggy dress etc.
Rather than make excuses, I think it's a lot easier to say they have no idea how to tackle the WW Khawarij issue and since they are unable to differentiate between Khawarij and Muslims they fear Muslims. Since they can't ban Muslims they have chosen to ban the veil / hijab. At least that way they are being honest. A veil ban is in no shape going to help security in any shape or form.
