One small series out there that you dont hear much from...Is the Phantasy Star Series.

Started during the SEGA years and now..peaked with PSO and now its an obscure ps vita title with ok sales.

Should it be reintroduced as a W/JRPG? Single Player? PS4? stay on mobile?

Yes, it was a series that was the rival of Final Fantasy in the early 90s. Had Sega the cash and will the series would obviously evolve as a AAA RPG rivalling FFXV.

Yes, the dreamcast/Gamecube PSO version done well. But as is typical with a lot of Japanese IPs, they just mishandled it to the point of irrelevance.

There was something unique about the tone PSO, the music, the world, the different races. I think the reboot should look towards Dark Souls in how to find a modern audience gameplay wise. For me it was the original Demon Souls.

A JPRG reboot can be done but I think it'd probably flop and be over budgeted if its trying to do the big narrative thing like FF.

I only played PSO on dreamcast. So I really don't know what they should do.

But they should release PSO 2 on more PS4 and Switch in europe and USA.

PSO 2 on DC was a sweet game.

Well, yeah but who is going to make it? The team that made the Genesis games is long gone. Sega disbanded the Skies of Arcadia team which could had done a good job. Tri-Ace has SO already. Level 5 isn't doing anything with Rogue Galaxy, so maybe they could work on it. But I think the best candidate for such a remake would be Nintendo's own Monolith, but that is highly unlikely ;-P

They can go end of the millennium again and not kill off Alys Brangwin :)

And yes, in answer to the OP. Definitely!

I know but the single player games had a decent background history...its gotta have opportunity...something with big open world single player game with some things like Star Ocean...but who knows...maybe go back to  turn based..do the game in VR. I would like to see a sequel with chaz and rika...and even Zio.

Having permanent double vision VR isn't something I can enjoy but the idea of a Phantasy Star in VR would be something very cool indeed and highly suited to VR with it's style.
