Well, there were Lost Odyssey... XP

The best FF since 9.

Intricately disecting every little detail in an obviously exaggerated comment does not make my point less valid.

It's the least FF game ever produced and that includes the spinoffs and mobile games. It's a handful of radio towers away from being a generic Ubisoft open world.

I haven't played it yet, but from the demos I can kind of see that, I guess. A big part of the take away from XIII was "LINEAR IS BAD!" so maybe they just looked at commercially successful open world games and copied.

But actually, the demo somehow reminded me more of Deadly Premonition.

What about 12? :o

The only non-MMO FF I never finished (aside from 3, which I've never played at all). I'm almost ashamed to say it, because I've since been told it's really great gameplay wise, but I was so put off by the opening of 12 I just gave up on it almost immediately. Now I don't have a PS2 anymore to give it another shot, but I will definitely get the remaster!

The funny thing is that it feels close to a MMORPG, even being a single player game XP
Yeah, it's pretty damn great, pretty damn long as well, so save some good time when planning to play throught it xD

FFf12 was a cool game...just not a strong one....but...if most ff fans had to choose between FF12 and FF13 when going to a desert island....ff12 would get picked....

Would make a nice poll LOL

I played good 10 or more hours of 12 and didn't like any minute of it.

I would chose 13, I even preffer it being linear than having to hover up and down all the time.

I would pick 12 even over 10 or 7, or 8 (would pick most over 8 XP)
Only 9 would make it a hard choice XP

9 is the perfect memory for me. First FF. those pretty cutscenes and all made me love FF forever. That opening is still pretty and eye watering to me.

It did outdo Lightning returns, and to be honest... i was expecting worse.

These numbers are not totally horrible for current day japan.

But it doesn't change the fact that those "biggest opening in the series" headlines were clearly meant to be misleading.

Day 1 Japan sales from this gen:
Dragon Quest 7 port - 836K
Pokemon Ruby/Saphire remakes and Monster Hunter, Monster Hunter X - 1.5M
Monster Hunter 4 - 1.75M
Pokemon X/Y - 2M
Yokai Watch 2 - 2.5M+

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Is there supposed to be a point? Those are all on the 3DS. Are you sugesting FF mainline should be on the 3DS?

Also Pokemon Sun and Moon sold 1.75M a couple of weeks ago.

I am not suggesting it should be on 3DS, rather that this is a comparatively horrible number for a major mainline RPG, especially one like Final Fantasy that usually more than doubles those sales.
