Yes it had but for how long? It had sold 700k copies digitally as of December 2012. Are you sure that AC NL wasn't heavily pre-ordered on the eshop then?

Wut?! lol

Surely you mean with digital cards sold in stores?

Hmmm, figure it out by your own-self...

"Eurogamer also notes that the game was the most downloaded game on launch day for any title released in Japan"

Although I don't know how much that accounts for. But perhaps that puts FFXV above a million in Japan?

yeah...we should find out what the most download title in japan is...dude...that could be a high number..

Didn't you hear that PS gamers don't download games?

As for the FF15 sales, i think it should be noted that unlike every gen before now, now day one downloads is actually a thing. though I don't see that adding more than 30% of what the physical sales are to the total number. So that takes it up to around 830k. Without bundles.

It has to be either the second or third option. AC did 200k+ FW. FF doing that day 1 is insane

More than likely yeah but that number is for first week for AC which if I remember correctly had shipment issues and pushed people to buy it digitally. That probably didn't happen on the first day. And first day also means pre-orders. I doubt AC was heavily pre-ordered on the eshop.

AC fw had 2 days, you think majority of that wasnt day 1? :p

Also how would SE kno Digital sales of all nintendo titles? I think its all SE games but still could be Ps4 highest (since ffxv has 700k sales, 100k digital isnt unbelievable)

Well maybe you should figure out by your ownself that Famitsu counts those as retail sales...lol

And since the most downloaded statment was made by Famitsu it would not include digital cards sold in stores.

Hey! Thread title is wrong. FFXV sold 694K! Why you ignore Xb one sales?

Impressive hardware bump that.

But anyway I'm pretty sure it's only compared to other PS4 games.

PS4 sales are ignored as well. The Film Collections Box FF XV(includes PS4 game) is not included in the chart because it is in the animation(anime, movies, etc.) tracker. It sold 13k making the PS4 version sell over 700k. :P

Oh yeah i forgot about that. Well MH4 digital was over 100k, dunno exactly how much.

Also to note FFXV 2nd week will have a much higher drop because it was released much earlier FW than normal games (which is to be expected). I would be surprised if FFXV doea close to 150k. 80k-100k sounds about right

All jokes aside, I think it's obvious to everyone: the PS4 in Japan alone can't shoulder the existence of Japanese AAA games and JRPGs.

They either have to appeal to more a western audience and/or leverage other platforms to find success. Final Fantasy has the privelidge of doing both reasonably well. But things like Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter are yoked to the Japanese market acceptance.

Ultimately, I do think we'll see FFXV on the Switch in some fashion. The 'Can it run FFXV' benchmark is an easy, obvious, and valuable benchmark for Nintendo and Square to have set early on for Switch. Because a new mainline FF on a Nintendo handheld holds just much appeal in Japan as a new Zelda or Xenoblade on a Nintendo handheld -- if not more...

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Yeah like ... maybe support Nintendo? Like the only company in Japan that's been able to really sell hardware en masse there for the last decade? Maybe that'll eventually start to sink in to the thick heads of Japanese game studios.

It shouldn't just be some token late port of FFXV on Switch either. Final Fantasy VII Remake, Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy XVI should all have Switch versions readied immediately if they are not already. They should have been in development like yesterday, but if they're not they need to be today.

Square-Enix needs to understand they need to help Nintendo and they need help *now*, the Japanese game market is a house on fire, these companies need to come together and help Nintendo fight for the Japan market's survival. Nintendo needs backing like they had in the Famicom/Super Famicom days if there ever is to be a healthy Japanese traditional game market again.
