If you want to live under strict interpretation of the Koran and not respect secular values, then stay in wherever you came from.

Simple as that.

Islam does what Islam does. You bring in a muslim, you bring in Sharia.

That's the reason we have unrelenting migration in Europe here. Its' by design so the local cultural fabric can be destroyed and replaced with a neo-feodale structure where smaller radical groups can be pinned against each other. Divide and conquer in roman style .

People should be allowed to wear what they wanna wear as long as its within public decency. Hell we got people running around the states dressed as clowns. Don't see a ban on clowns.

Let me get this straight... we're worried that men are making women wear veils, so we make them not wear them? How is that any kind of a solution? All these people saying to ban them, do you live in North Korea or something? Or aspire to that kind of government? Be careful what you wish for, you just might get a government that starts telling you what YOU can and can't do about inconsequential things too. Not a precedent I'm excited to set.

If you knew anything about the backwardiness of the culture who would realize it more then just men forcing thier wife to wear a veil.

I have a secular female friend who moved to the West from Egypt, but who still has sisters and cousins in Egypt who didn't wear headgear in the past but have recently started doing so because of social pressure (particularly when the Muslim Brotherhood was in charge). She has shared a lot of her observations with me. I don't profess to be an expert, but I object to your assertion that I know nothing about the cultural underpinnings.

Then  you would realize that creating seperate societies in Western Nations is not a good path.

Many immigrant group I seen have shed backwards ideals to the dustbin of history once they come to western nations.

So do many many muslisms as well, but it seems in my community there is a large minority who want to create a society and way of life like its the 'old country'

the problem is that we're basically holding a tug-of-war match with the hijabis in the middle.

We have one side which wants them gone, with the other wanting them to be enforced on all women. Which side is better? None! Any side which is extremely pro or anti hijab will typically have a viewpoint which is hypocritical or flat out wrong.

Women should be able to wear it if they desire(as many do prefer the modest route). That isn't to say you're a slut or some devil for not wearing it. Many women choose to not wear it. Obsessing over such a dumb issue just makes us lose focus on actual problems such as people being forced to wear the veil, child marriage, child pornography, etc. All issues many poor females must deal with.

either way, women will get bad looks. You'll get bad looks from extreme muslims for not wearing the hijab, and you'll get bad looks from xenophobes had you chosen to wear the veil. You simply cannot win. I understand one disliking the niqab/burqa, but the hijab doesn't bring any sort of trouble. Not only that, but it allows her to easily be checked for ID without any sort of problems.

Forcing the veil? Horrible. Not allowing women to wear it? Horrible as well.

Your comment is intellectually dishonest.  So closed to other perspectives are you believe that someone who has the same information as you can't help but come to the same conclusion, if "Then  you would realize..." is anything to go by.

I'm not as certain as that of *any* of my beliefs, and I recommend you not be.

I don't want anyone to force someone to wear it, and I certainly don't want anyone to force someone not to wear it.
