...I don't understand. That's not an opinion. It doesn't matter if we don't "agree" lol.

They are common Pokemon just like a Butterfree or an Electabuzz, just from another demension. That's why there are so many Nihilego in the Ultra dimension. The only reason they are so powerful is because of their exposure to the Ultra Wormhole energy. Their natural stats are likely far more modest. It's the same thing that happens to Totem Pokemon and Lusamine. UBs are more powerful because they've been exposed to it longer. Same with Beast Boost. It's an unnatural side effect of extended exposure to the Ultra Wormhole. You know, like how Mega Evolution unnaturally powers up common Pokemon to legendary levels.

None of this is speculation. The game explicitely tells you this. Ultra Beasts aren't legendary Pokemon.

To me, one who doesn't really care about the story and lore, they may aswell be since from a gameplay standpoint they function exactly the same. Only one per game, genderless & unbreedable, guaranteed 3 perfect IVs, really high base stats, etc. Definitely doesn't work the same as Butterfree.

There are 2 Buzzwole, 4 Pheromosa, 2 Xurkitree, 4 Kartana, 2 Celesteela, and even though you can only catch one, numerous Nihilego are seen. There are legendary Pokemon with genders as well as plenty of normal Pokemon without them. There is a legendary Pokemon that can breed. Every UB but Celesteela have at least 2 stats that are in the 50s or below, and there are numerous normal Pokemon with base stats higher than the Ultra Beasts. (ya kno like megas bro)

Silvally has the same BST as UBs, is genderless, cannot breed, and the player is only given one in the entire game unlike most of the Ultra Beasts. Is Sylvally "from a gameplay standpoint functionally the same" as a legendary? Of course not. Neither are UBs.

You read that entire post and stopped at "like Butterfree." I compare them to Mega Pokemon.

Your wording is much better than mine, but thats exactly what I meant. Semantics is not the argument to have.  :p

Definitely not legendaries, I have to agree with spemanig in that. I'd say it's factually, not an opinion. There's not one UB per game. I have 4 Xurketree on my PC, for a start. They're just regular Pokemon from an alternate dimension, powered up because of them crossing to the "Pokemon" dimension.

What I'm not sure is (at least, I haven't read anything in game which states that, msybe I havent't noticed) if UB are Pokemon. I mean, they come from an alternate dimension, Pokemon word maybe doesn't even exist in the Ultradimension.

They are referred to as Pokemon in-game.

Fine, then I think they're perfectly defined in-game.

I'd say that the game has 2 legendaries, 4 deities, 5 UB and the rest. I wouldn't categorize UB or even deities as legendaries imo. Not sure about deities though. 100% sure about UB.

But again, when disregarding story and looking at it from a gameplay perspective, it's totally fair to call them legendarys. You having multiple of the same UBs doesn't mean anything by itself since trading exist. Are you saying there's another way to get more? I wouldn't know, haven't gotten that far in the postgame.

You'll see when you do the UB quests. But the quest itself makes that definition of UB as legendaries wrong . They're definitely their own thing XD.

Deities (all the Tapus) are probably more complicated though. I'm still not sure myself.

A Evil Leader has super strong pokemon and invades a region and creates great destruction and death and kills your mother.

You then face off in a lvl 80-90 battle in the post game

lol

Interesting, but still it's a limited number versus normal Pokemon which you can get an infinite number of. I know not all of them do, but that's the general criteria most legendarys follow. I said really high stats, not the best stats, and Mega evolution is a mid-battle form change that requires a held item, it's not the base Pokemon itself. That's also why I wouldn't compare them to UBs, they're their own Pokemon, not a state that can benefit other Pokemon.

Silvally is Type Null's evolution, so there's that, but if someone wants to consider that a legendary then I have no issue. Afterall Solgelao and Lunala are technically evolved forms aswell.

A bigger focus on graphical improvements, if it's on the Switch

New Pokemon

New Abilities and Moves

..stuff like that :p

I think the Tapus are legendaries - this game's "legendary trio." Necrozma is said to be a legendary as well and not just an Ultra Beast. Cosmog and Cosmoem are both legendaries just by family association, similar to Phione. Magearna and Marshadow are both mystic pokemon, but the west calls them legendary Pokemon so I'll call them that for clarity.
