Forums - Movies & TV - I'm about sick of the Walking Dead.

Currently, I'm caught up with the Walking Dead, and honestly, I'm sick of Negan.  Not sick as in "He's the eviliest character in the Walking Dead. What's Rick and his jerk off crew are going to do about it?" It's more like "I'm sick and tired of seeing this asshole."  I'm not going to psychoanalyze or nerd out as to why I think so.  And I'm trying to keep an open mind as to the writiers trying to flesh out this character.  But the story is moving too slow, and the more I see Negan the more I think "This is stupid."  It's like last night, Carl snuck into Negan's camp and killed two of his guy when he could have easily have shot Negan's head off.  Pretty much with the exception of the deaths at the beginning, the entire half season has been too much of a chain jerker.  It's introducing new elements, but with so much focus on Negan it make those elements too randon a this point.  I haven't felt like this about the series since the first half of the second season.  This makes me not want to anticipate and watch the second half of this season.

Heard similar things from a few friends and family. I haven't watched an episode since episode 3, I'll probably wait until the season is over to pick it back up.

At this point, It would be better to binge watch instead.

Walking dead has been getting worse and worse as time goes on.
This season its basically a "do I even want to bother watching this?" level.

only watched the 1st episode of season 6 and decided this just doesn't hold my interest anymore

Yeah Negan an evil badass, but I bet they're saving him for Rick and Maggie's epic revenge.

Well, the only saving grace I see in this will be Maggie.  I've never read the comics, but i was told that Maggie will be the leader of Hilltop.  If done correctly, this might be one of the best character developing arcs this show has seen since day one.

They are actually staying fairly close to the comics but there's still deviations. That guy (can't spoiler tag on my phone...or maybe I can and I'm lazy) ran out of bullets and the other guy wasn't even there in the comics to get shot.

The guy that portrays Negan does an okay job but he's nowhere near an accurate representation of the comics Negan, even when he is almost word for word.

I started skipping episodes last season and even a couple this season but if the story goes where it's supposed to go, it's going to be worth it. Changes and all.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2016/11/27/five-reasons-why-the-walking-deads-ratings-are-crashing-to-season-3-levels/#7d4de0786041

The current biggest threat to Rick’s group isn’t Negan and the Saviors, it’s audience disinterest.

AMC’s plan worked initially, and The Walking Dead put up record numbers as 17 million tuned into the Season 7 premiere to see who Negan had actually killed during after the Season 6 cliffhanger. But afterward? The show’s ratings have fallen off a cliff in the weeks that followed. They dropped precipitously from 12.5 in episode 2 to now just 11 million viewers in episode 5.

While viewers always drop off to a certain extent after season premieres, this is simply unprecedented for The Walking Dead. Losing over 6 million viewers in just five episodes is not a fluke, and the downward trend may not be over yet. Having just 11 million viewers drops The Walking Dead to a viewership level not seen since season 3. The show was still popular then, but with seasons 4 and 6 averaging about 12-13 million viewers an episode, and season five averaging more like 13-15, this is obviously not the direction The Walking Dead wants to be moving. Season 6 may have indicated a slow decline, but now in season 7, viewer interest is dying off at a simply alarming rate.

--------------

You are not alone, makes me wonder about future of the series.

I enjoy it as Negan is best thing to happen in a while. I'm surprised "The Farm" didn't kill interest back in season 2.

I'm hoping the second half of the season will be epic enough to justify (no make up) for the current half.
