Forums - Sales Discussion - Final Fantasy XV is the second highest selling game FW in the franchise in UK

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2016-12-05-final-fantasy-xv-is-the-second-fastest-selling-game-in-franchise-history-in-the-uk

Square Unix's Final Fantasy XV has got off to a strong start at UK games retail.

Digital data isn't included, but in terms of boxes, it is the second-fastest selling game in the series' history - beaten only by 2010's Final Fantasy XIII. If you combine the early performance of this with the new Skyrim remake (which has been one of this Christmas' more successful launches) and it's been a strong quarter for the RPG genre

Fifa was still No.1 though

You are on a thread spree I see xD

Well, it's behind XIII... XP
Did XIII sell very well on UK? Is FF big there?

this is according to gaf

1. Final Fantasy XIII ~ 170,000 - 180,000

2. Final Fantasy XV ~ 115,000 - 135,000

3. Final Fantasy XII - 90,000

And killed the franchise for me in the process. You might want to add 'loadouts' next SE just to get that TRUE Western feel.

The PS5 Exists.

So the PS1 games weren't that popular there? Or we just don't have the data.
If I remember right PS1 FFs did very well on Europe.

Final Fantasy VII got to No.1 on PS1, but I don't know what the actual figures are

FF7 was the first ever FF game to reach PAL but was critically acclaimed and sold very well, so did all FFs after. I guess you'd be hard pressed to find numbers however. It was the goto JRPG.

90k for FF12 is actually good considering the new gen had started when it came out. I'd say FF13 and 15 numbers are higher due to multiplatform release too.

Hmm, pie.

That doesn't mean the next game is going to be like that.
Disliking a game and falling in love for the next is quite common for the franchise, so I really don't think they killed it for you, at least right now.

They've tried to popularise it over the years and in the process taken the heart out of it. The franchise is dead for me in the same way Tombraider is.

Ever since ff8, every new ff game has always got this kind of comment.

Ff8: this series is dead to me cos the story is a mess

Ff9: this series is dead to me when they decide to use this chibi look

Ff10: this series is dead to me cos i cant stand the linearity

Ff11: wtf is this

Ff12: this series is dead to me cos of these 2 useless mcs

Ff13: this series is dead to me cos of hallways

Ff14: wtf? they still havent learned from ff11

And now we're here with the new "this series is dead" for ffxv. So amazing squenix still managed to sell millions copies after so many fans "quit" the series.

Anyway, it's a good news for squenix. It's kinda weird to see gta is nowhere in that chart tho. I'm also curious to see xb1/ps4 ratio.

Well FFXIII had 0% digital rate so FFXV is probably the real no. 1

Actually long term sales of FFXIII sequels were a disappointment to many at square enix.. They were projecting a lot higher because of the early sales.

FFXIII launched 7 years ago, probably doesn't had digital sales. FFXV might be closer with digital sales, but still behinnd FFXIII's launch.

I wonder how well the game will sell on Japan, the Data will e out in 2 days.
