Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Switch has higher pixel density than 4K TV.

720p = 0.9m pixels

4K = 8m pixels

Switch screen = 18.44 sq inch = ~50,000 pixels/sq inch

32" 4K screen = 436 sq inch = ~18,000 pixels/sq inch

42" 4K screen = 750 sq inch = ~10,500 pixels/sq inch

Assumes the Switch screen isn't 1080p (100,000 px/sq inch)

Sooooooo, you want a cookie now for applying basic math?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

So the Vita has more pixels per inch?

My phone has an even higher PPI, still think games and videos look better on my 4K TV though.

That's great, assuming this if correct of course, but what's the big deal? TVs aren't exactly known to have a high pixel density anyway since you're supposed to be looking at them from a distance. If it had a lower pixel density, it would be quite worrying instead of this being somehow special.

PPI (which is a more common way to denote pixel density) will then be ~224.

But the thing is that you will be having your Switch much closer to your face than you would with a 4K TV so it doesn't really matter.

You seem quite concerned about the switch and its inability to do 4k.
Seems similar to "Switch can play every 4K Scorpio/PS4 Pro game above 720p. Basic maths."

4K video shouldn't be a problem for Switch.

4K in handheld mode would be completely overkill though.

mobile devices usually do have higher pixel densities. its easier to notice a difference from your phone, which is usually a 6 in - 12 in viewing distance, than a TV which has an average 10 ft viewing distance

It's pretty obvious why a machine whose screen will be right in your face all the time will have a greater PPI than a 30" TV. The 3DS probably has a greater PPI than a 30" 1080p TV, does this really mean anything? No not really and so this thread will be locked.
