Forums - Sales Discussion - Knack 2 versus Mario Switch

Knack is back, back again. Knack is back, tell a friend.

But really, Knack as a series gt hurt by the first installment getting really mediocre reviews. Without the advantage of being a launch title, Knack 2 has no real way to keep up with a 3D Mario at launch, outside of an already established userbase.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Offcourse that userbase is one most important aspect if you comparing sales of games, and fact is that on 45m userbase Knack sold only 1.7m. In other thread I defended comparing sales of two games where one game has user base on 40m and other game has user base of 20m. In this case SM3DW is on platform that has 4x less user base than Knack and still sold 2.5x better than Knack, we talking around 30% attach rate for SM3DW and less than 5% atach rate for Knack.

And rely what's point of this thread, you trying to compare one of biggest, one of most popular and one of best Nintendo IP (3D Mario) and sequel to very niche game that nobody relly (expect few people) wanted or expected!?

And whats with this "Let's never forget that Knack was outperforming Mario on UK"!? Lol

Well, you won't ever budge that attach ratio are very very very far from being constant when userbase increases so I won't even bother.

Read the thread and posts of everyone that understood the point and you'll also notice.

Knack was outselling Marion 3D world in UK for some time, just that.

Of Course that attach rate and user base are important if you comparing sales of games on different platforms, if you saying that doesn't matter if installe base is 20m or 40m if you talk about sales of games, you really dont know what about you are talking.

I see thread and I see some people also thinking this a joke thread (just for record "Knack will kill Mario" posts are also jokes too), when I saw thread I also thought its some kind of joke thread, and now I see you are serius and thats not good at all..

So Knack outselling on just one market in world, that is just one country in Europe (thats buy case UK is one weakest Nintendo market), while SM3DW destroying Knack in all other markets WW, and from some reason you thought that will somehow backup this joke thread, relly!?

I think Knack is a good game (unlike most) but come on... lol

Game is expected to sell 5M on a 20, 40 or 100M userbase. But using your argumentation on 20M it is a big success but on 100M it's mediocre because attach ratio is low. Nope, that isn't how it works. Or would MK8 sell 50M on a 100M userbase?

This is a joke thread, but your argument on attach ration being nearly constant with the increase of userbase is quite silly. Uncharted 1, 2 and 3 sold 4,57M, 6,66M and 6,74M on userbase that varied from 6,2M, 26,3M and 56M... so the first one is an amazing success because it sold almost 1:1 and 3 is a flop because it sold less than 0,15:1? Or you'll say that all of them sold on a 90M userbase because you are considering the total userbase at the end of life of PS3, because for some reason the games sell steadly for the life of the console?

There is no need to backup this thread. But if you were here at the time this happened and saw the threads about Knack outselling Mario you wouldn't be doubting the joke in the thread. Seems like only you, Wasulfunir and some others have reasons to really doubt this is a joke thread. Some others posted asked if it was a joke, but we can't say that they were also joking or have the same issues with the thread as you.

Userbase is important? Sure, but only if the userbase is so small that it would damper the possibility of sales. Like it would be impossible for MK 8 to sell 20M on WiiU because it would be higher than WiiU itself, but a game that is expected to sell 3M on WiiU wouldn't magically do 9M on a userbase of PS4 just because there are 3x more customers available.

We already talk about that before...look sales of same multiplatform games on PS4 and XB1 and you will that in most cases sale difference is around double in favour of PS4, and buy some coincidence PS4 has around twice bigger instal base than XB1.

Well its seems this is joke thread but you sound serious, so I become worried that you are actually serious about this thread.. :D
