Forums - Politics Discussion - 2 Significant political events are going to shake Europe to its core today...

Was I the only one expecting ISIS and refugees to be one of the major events? 😂

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Just heard about the Austrian election and Italian referendum. A German Youtuber I follow made a video about the Austrian election today.

Uhh. Shake? Not really seeing that, sorry (even if things ended up differently in Austria). Europe is a huge continent, and you need quite a bit to really affect the whole continent.

The fact a far right party can get close to a majority in a rather stable country like Austria is not a source of jubilation.

I would imagine unless things change in that country I would bet those forces will perform strongly in future elections.

It's definitely a hit to the EU and don't let any other politicians say otherwise ...

The EU is on the cusp of a financial crisis, I love it!

It would be wise for Trump to withdraw from funding NATO if it means boosting these types ...

I totally forgot about the election in Austria. But I wouldn't have voted anyway, so whatever.

Crushing defeat for Hofer and the FPÖ. Back in May they got close, within 1 percent point of victory. This time they lagged behind by about 7 percent points, so it looks like the whole anti-immigration issue is losing steam. Hardly surprising, because EU politics have already made adjustments.

I agree, I think many people forget that many government took some harsh actions against refugees especially Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden and Others and even Germany to a limited Degree.

If the situation of Sept 2015 was still going on, then I think there would be a huge wave of right wingers coming into power.

However France is uncertain especially if there is a Terrorist attack.

It's funny to see someone say the right wing is populist....
