Forums - Sony Discussion - Have Sony decided to deliver more and more on nostalgia and go back to the basics?

With all the bash for the excessive remakes/remasters since PS3 but even more on PS4. Crash Bandicoot finaly coming back even if as a remake collection, Final Fantasy VII remaster finally happening, Shenmue 3 on the way and giving another chance to Knack and trying to still have a platformer on PS4 have Sony gone back to their roots and will start over on PS4 to see how far they can reach after learning from PS3 mistakes?

I think they're doing a damn fine job managing their IP at the moment as well as their exclusives. I would say that nostalgia and back to basics are different camps generally but in this case I think they're effectively doing both. Hats off to them.

We could say they are just doing exactly what they are being asked to do in relation to all those games you mentioned. Like literally.

Definitely!

Wipeout, Crash, even WINDJAMMERS!! xD

They're really utilizing everything PlayStation.

I think they are doing exactly what they should. They are creating lots of new IP's but also delivering remakes and classic games which people have been moaning about wanting.

It's also a good way of seeing if any of these old IPS actually have any use today. So if Wipeout or Crash did very well you can then imagine a new version would be made. If they sell only ok, then not a lot has been lost cost wise, and they can move on.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

I just feel like they are actually listening to fans... and actually trying to give fans what they hear they want.

^ we re on the same page. I wrote my reply before I even saw yours.

Its such a simple concept, listen to what your consumers want, give it to them, and yet not everyone does.

Sony is actually listening to fans... and acting on it.

I would be so down for Jeanne dArc since it would finally get a proper EU release, and they could get Lvl5 to make some changes (if needs be).

They should go all out on this I think,

You mean the PSP game right?

I know alot of people frown on emulation (here) but this one game looks so good on PPSSPP you wouldnt believe its a psp game.

If you want to replay it, in 1080p, you should give ppsspp a try.

Where is Legend of Dragoon? XD
