Ok, I used to be a big Xbox fan, original xbox is one of my favorite consoles ever because of games like halo 1&2, better versions of splinter cell and max payne, dead or alive, Ninja gaiden, fable, Jade Empire, The chronicles of riddick escape from butcher bay (oh man what an amazing game) Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, fusion frenzy etc etc. But these days I don't see anything exciting like those times, sure we have quantum break and sunset overdrive, but apart from that I don't see anything new or an exclusive game that makes me say "YES! I NEED THE XBOX ONE" maybe because I have a pc and I can play some exclusives, but even those exclusives are not exciting enough for me to say "Ok I would buy the xbox if this was a xbox exclusive"

I would like to buy the xbox but MS needs to understand that software is the most important thing, that's why I prefer Nintendo and Sony over xbox right now, because with those systems I can play must have games that I can't play if I don't own those consoles. Apart from Xbox scorpio, what's on the horizon for xbox? scalebound? coming to PC, but even if the game was exclusive so far the gameplays are a bit meh, I can't believe that I'm saying this about a game daveloped by Kamiya. We'll see, maybe they are cooking stuff but so far xbox is the only platform that doesn't offer anything exciting or exclusive apart from Halo, and Halo is not doing much for me these days.

In other words, make this game exclusive for xbox and I will buy the damn console.

MS's goal now is to capture what they can of the PC market and maintain their Xbox brand, so whatever Xbox gets, PC will get over time as well. To them making and buying games for both brands, than making entirely exclusive and separate games for each platform, is cheaper for them. Besides I don't see the other two doing the same where they make exclusive games for OC and then their own console.

As much as I dislike MS at the moment with their overall vision with Win 10/Xbox, I honestly don't see them getting a leg up in anything. THis gen has been mapped out and set in such a way that only one system will "always win", or "always be on top", no matter what the competition does (don't need to look through plenty of threads to see that message as clear as day).

Xbox One and PC.

Halo machine and PC

Microsoft has never been good at making games. They've always paid outsiders to make their games for them or acquired franchises. Halo was purchased when they bought Bungie before it launched for Apple and the same Gears was purchased outright. Not only that but they hired a team composed of Sony and irattional games workers to make Gears 4 helmed by Rod Ferguson. MS making a key action-based exclusive all by themselves is a little much to ask. Theyve never done it after all of their time in the console business. It would be nice, but they dont take risk, because I feel they know they arent that creative.

I've had this issue with Microsoft for a long time and have expressed this for years. I dub this a valid rant.

I agree sorta.

Sony has

The last guardian
Dragon quest builders
World of final fantasy
Persona 5
Ace combat 7
Yakuza 0, 6 and kiwami
Ni no kuni 2
Last of us 2
Horizon zero dawn
Ni-Oh
Street fighter V
Gran turismo sport.

Meanwhile Xbox has the usual suspects like halo, gears, forza. Next year has crackdown, scalebound, and halo wars 2. Nothing much I really care about. There's Scorpio coming out but that's just a upgraded One, not a whole new console.

Switch looks far more appealing at this point.

I think what MS has been delivering on the game front has been pretty solid.

They came from the OS and general office space. I never really expected them to be master game pioneers or egineers in general. I look at nintendo of today and remember that during their 100 years, they were known for cards and toys (as well as other properties), cards acting like Amiibos and Toys in terms of how they treat their machine/games/Amiibo figures.

Also out of all 3, two of them jumped into the ring to take out another target. The one that came back from the console crash is still trying to mind it's own business and do it's own thing, while the other two are still locked in that age old "gotta destroy you" type battle.

Yeah, but do we have a gamebreaking game like Alan Wake or Ninja Gaiden? Those games were developed by other studios. So far I don't see that game yet. That's my only problem this gen, that I see a good quantity of games but nothing stellar apart from Halo.

I agree. I loved the original Xbox, but after my brother went through 4 360s in two years I was put off ever getting it. I've got the X1 for this gen and it's ok. MCC was good, Halo 5 was ok, and I've got to play through the Gears series. Forza 6 and Horizon 2 are great. Sunset Overdrive was pretty good too. Aside from that though there isn't a great deal on the system.

And looking forward, there isn't anything to really be excited about. There will be more Halo, more Gears, more Forza. Even on the odd occasion MS do try to branch out into something interesting it doesn't pay off. Recore was underwhelming, Scalebound I'm hopeful for but looks worse at every trailer. The whole Xbox ecosystem bores me right now. I can't see myself getting any Xbox console again.

At least Nintendo and Sony are giving us lots to look forward to

This same thing happened with the 360. Microsoft masks their internal inability to pump out exclusives. The first three years are awesome because they pay third party to mask it and then after seeing the losses they cut back on third party exclusives. While Sony only ramps up their exclusives count, Microsoft goes through a massive drought before the end.
