Finished it, shelfed it, and I really don't have any desire to do any of the side-quest or post-game content. It's easily my least favorite Final Fantasy game.

I cannot and I literally mean I cannot catch the Vesper gar, ibspent a full three hours of real time trying to catch that fish, I get it to bite every time but even though I take my time reeling and making sure I'm releasing the tension my like simply depletes far too fast. I'm using a 2000 line and the best rod and reel but I can't get it!

That sounds odd. Vesper Gar isn't that difficult so there's something wrong with your fishing technique. Also you could have the best reel and line but I don't think you can have the best rod yet. Good luck, keep trying.

Finished it last night.

Game is close to awesome. Without all the fuzz beforehand it would rate so much higher. The world is incredibly beautiful and there are so many details in it. And the monsters... they look amazing!
Sadly though, story, pacing and battle system are keeping it from being awesome. Close to awesome but just not there.

Now, next iteration should be presented as a new IP. Although I wouldn't know how to replace all those things we've come to love about FF. I mean, no more Tonberry or Ifrit... that's just... too hard.

But well done Square, I have enjoyed myself a lot playing this game and will probably go for the plat.

Couple of questions.
I think I'm on the final mission, I'm back at insomnia and everything's a mess.

Basically what I want to know is. is there A Post-game?
And also I used umbra to go back to Lucis while I was in insomnia to finish off a couple of sidequest and I got the call from cindy. Anyways cut it short. I ended up fighting the giant adamantoise it was asking me to flee on the side quest destcriptiin so I did. Now the quest has disappeared!! Will it come back or has it glitches??

try going to the diner by hammerhead and check the hunts if it is there. can fight him as much as you want.

after you beat the game you can continue on side questing in the past by using Umbra, or start a new game +

possibly the most sad and depressing endings I've ever experienced lol. I really liked those four as friends and while i always had a feeling that 1 of them was probably going to die, it was sad when it happened and I can't believe they decided that all four were to die. I think I was just enjoying the game better when it was a little more light-hearted, joking on the road, fishing, taking photos and battling daemon and stuff haha. The game went really dark from chapter 9 onwards.

One thing that bugged me slightly was Luna, she seems like she was going to be a massive character in the story and while she did some important actions I felt she was pretty much non existent, I felt I barely seen and heard her in the game. There was also other  characters that made on-off appearances and then never seen again.

Overall I really enjoyed the game and would probably give it 85%
