Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nolan North has strong words for striking voice actors

The problem with the strike is the profit sharing aspects of their terms. I cannot side with them for that alone. Thank you Nolan for standing up for developers.

I agree for not forcing them to overwork, but profit sharing is when I knew it was more about greed.

I'm all for the strike, they deserve better.
That doesnt mean the other areas of development on a game don't, but if they don't have the balls to stand up and do anything about it then shit won't change.

Hes highly successfull and probably made tons of money.
Most other VA's arnt as fortunate as him.

Im not sure if hes against the VA that are on strike, or just means to say programmers/artists for said games should also get paid better?

Programmers are treated horribly too in the game industry, worse than VA's are, and they work longer/harder.

Alot of people getting a education as a programmer, are being told dont do it for the money, or the easy work, you wont get paid anything and will be worked to death doing it. Reality is unless your extremly passionate about it, gameing isnt what most programmers aim for, because its a rough ride.

I think the only voice actor that deserves to be paid the big bucks would be H. Jon Benjamin. Everyone else is a nobody compared to him.

I disagree with that wole heartedly. Quite a few folks are up there with him....and even better. Including the legendary Frank Welker and even Tara Strong.  Troy Baker is another one along with Dave Wittenberg. Not to mention Steve Blum. Scratch what I said earler...there's a LOT of folks better than Jon Benjamin.

Did I miss some sort of sarcasm or "the epicness of" banter here?

If they're not careful, Nolan North will voice every single character in video games, by himself.

Why would anyone want that? a highly tallented VA doing lots of works for games? my that sounds horrible :p

Okay eventually some would get tired of always hearing the same voice....

One of my favorite moments last night. Much respect to Nolan North.

This! I was not expecting something like that but man was it an epic moment

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

People don't strike, risking their actual and future work opportunities, if things aren't really fucked up. This guy is a privileged scab who is showing zero solidarity with not so fortunate/talented colleages, so you know where I think he can insert that trophy...

So if they're not careful things will be exactly the same as they are now?

I think that he was talking about some of the things the striking actors are asking for. For example, IIRC they are asking for a pourcentage of the games revenue, which seems completely unfair when, as Nolan North said, their performance is small compared to the developers, and the developers can't have any pourcentage of the revenue.

I don't think he's against the VAs on strike, just that they should remember that they are not alone, and they can't ask anything like kings when they're just one link of the chain among many others.
