Regarding framerate, even if the final game performs similarly to the E3 build, (drops to 20-25fps in demanding scenes) I don't think that'd be that big of an issue in a slower paced game like this. The Last Story had a similar performance profile, and I found that game immensely enjoyable regardless.

Yeah, if Bloodborne can work ok with similar and often worse performance hitches, I think Breath of the Wild will be fine.

Also, as Digital Foundry mentions, other open world games on similarly powered hardware like GTA5 and Skyrim have worse performance problems but were still generally very well liked. Hell, Witcher 3 on PS4/Xbone suffers drops to 20-25fps too, and it won 250 GOTY awards.

I think it may be that generally, for very large open world games that require absorbing a lot of atmospehre and that moves at a rather slower pace (because you have to take your time to explore and learn a lot of things) that framerate isn't NEARLY as important as if you are playing an multiplayer shooter, racer, or fighting game where there are a million and one things happen all at once and you need the smoothest and most responsive controls and actions as possible and for them to be consistant.

Awful low framerate is the salt on the wound for Wii U owners. It is almost even worse than them cancelling the game. Too bad since I won't buy a Switch.

The game isn't done, so I'm sure the framerate will be improved by the time both versions are out.

Wow, I'm mostly impressed at people being able to tell the exact framerate just with their eyes.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Absolutely stunning. Environments, soundtrack, animations (did you see how Link tumbled when he got seriously hurt?), the various means of attacks. This game is a masterpiece already.

And this isn't "awful".  I've seen "awful".  I see it every day when doing my level design work in UE4.  This isn't near "awful" :P

I'm really trying to see this low framerate, I just can't. My experience with bad framerate has been WWHD + explosions, or Pokemon XY and 3D Battles, or Sun and Moon Double battles. Those are bad, noticeable, game breaking/ruining fps. But I seriously can't for this BotW footage.

Edit: Best I can see is that it clearly isn't 60fps

To add to that, I've seen bad framerate when facing a giant monster in the sea. I forgot what they are called. It was still a great Zelda game despite that issue.
