Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Pokemon Sun/Moon Has Sold 7.5 million + Since Launch

You need to remember that Europe numbers are only first week, and there are no WW number. Those two could push an extra 1 million.

Still not gone in two weeks.

What to complain about, as I read XY initial shipment was 7mil, SunMoon sold that in less than two weeks. The 10 million aren't overshipping as some assumed. With the holidays before us, SunMoon will be well past 10 mil before the year ends.

Well yes, but it is still closer to 10 millions XD.

And I dont think Nintendo wants to ship the exact number it thinks it will sell.It will ship enough to sell well the first week(or in this case the first two weeks), but not enough that it simply is sold out everywhere, since they dont want to encourage people to buy something other than Pokemon because they cant find it.Contrary to Amiibos(back when they launched) and NES mini, Pokemon is already a proven franchise that Nintendo knows it will sell, so no need to undership it, and no fear of units not selling, so a bit "overshipping" is actually good.

But yeah, this news should quiet the voices that were saying that it will take until the years end to sell the 10 millions.

My God, that's insane. I've seen the hype, but I never thought that 7.2 million were going to be sold so quickly, and the Japanese and European numbers probably don't include the digital sales.

Europe does. Japan doesnt for digital. Also its 7.5mil

First 2 (full) weeks, we know Japan to be ca. 2.5 million (mediacrate, observers for week 3), Europe should be just under 2 million (adding week 2 and the OVER 1.5 million), US + rest of world should be 4 million, 2 weeks. So, 8.5 million on ten; that's good, really.

I personally would put it a little higher, since I personally think that WW would sell better than 300k for the first two weeks(so around 9 millions), but yeah, thats about it.Its a very impressive number, especially adding the fact that some of those numbers dont include digital.

Imma say games can be over 15mil shipped+digital by years end

Well, hard to prove or disprove, as only Ninty knows digital. Hmm, but I'm thinking, maybe Ninty makes a 10 mil press release (or another milestone) soon, so we could guess about digital.

Well i dont thinl any1 expected all 10mil to go up in 2 weeks.

Both points of views I speak about were expressed a short time ago as the 10 mil shipment figure became known:

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=222718

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8154917

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8154933

The last one reads: "That shipment is probably going to last 2 weeks top."

The other one: "I know it will sell over 10M but this shipment will last a long, long time."

Both are clearly wrong now, but it shows Nintendo calculated that initial shipment about right.

Funny thing is yes around 2mil is on store shelves (since we know 7.5mil is the minimum) but some places are completely sold out. Japan needs a new shipment and amazon us has been sold out for almost a week. 10Mil wasnt enough xD

Yeah, Amazon didn't had it for me in germany too. but I saw enough on shelves in MediaMarkt on friday. Maybe I should look tomorrow, to see how much is gone in a week.

Wow! It looks like that That 10mil shipment was pretty spot on.

Does this also include countries like Australia? And other Asian countries?

Well, seems like Nintendo was wise shipping 10M copies of the game, it'll probably be sold out by next week XD
